Vincent Teoh still uses an OPPO as his default player AFAIK, or is he not professional enough for you?

(and the OPPO's low latency DV not being broken like it is on the Panny is always a bonus for those "movie professional technical reviewer" types)

Yes because the Oppo has a useful front panel display for professional video reviewers, plus the Oppo allows you to perform some functions that other 4K BR players can't.
There's a video from Vincent mentioning those few advantageous points for professionals.

Vincent is the top gun of professional video (Blu-ray players, TVs) reviewers. So yes, he's pro enough for me.

We're 100% on the exact same page of pro 4K Blu-ray players; including Oppo's exclusive features (21:9 for ex.), Panasonic's "unique" Optimiser tone mapping, Pioneer's useful screen's information. ..Etc., etc., etc.
The three manufacturers just mentioned are above the rest in regards to disc information.

The perfect player is still yet to come ... and the Panasonic 9000 is getting close to it.

I finally got my Panasonic UB820!!! I have been waiting to have it for quite some time
First of all, thank you very much Robert and Value Electronics for the excellent service and assistance, the product arrived in perfect condition and works very well.

Robert, I wanted to ask you what configuration you recommend me, I have an LG B7 OLED. If someone also has it, I would recommend some configuration to get the most out of the bluray.
Thanks!

Rigor mortis is setting in. You better inject it with the T-virus. Creating the zombie Oppo. It doesn't eat brains it eats discs!😳😂

I cant seem to find a decently cheap price on a 1,000w system like i did a few years ago.
I can’t imagine that “most” receivers do not have Hdmi inputs. I’d think it would be almost impossible to find a receiver without any Hdmi inputs. Are you sure you know what you are looking for?

Do Panasonic players support Dolby TrueHD/Dolby Atmos/DTS:X playback on USB sticks with .mkv or m2ts file types?

Crazy that a decomposing player still does LL DV better than others that are alive and kicking.

No lossless playback for audio no matter fileformat.

Yup. Most everything is f*ck*ng Bluetooth now.
Its a supreme pain in the arse.

I hate/locate soundbar and will never get on. I want surround sound, not surround sound only in the front.

I'm not gping all out, at least for now. All I wamt is a cheap 1,000w 5.1 system.
Wal*Mart carried some a couple of years ago but they switched over to nothing but soundbars

Target doesn't carry anything

Amazon is a pain to search through and can't narrow down the results to remove Bluetooth.

Best Buy barely lists anything and its all Bluetooth as well

I'll have to stop in one day but it's an hour drive each way

What was confusing is that you asked about a receiver which most people associate to an AVR. It seems what you are looking for is a "Home Theater in a Box" 5.1 system" that used to be popular but has as you said has been mostly replaced by soundbars. This is not the thread to discuss this. I suggest you do a google search for "Home Theater in a Box". There are some that have HDMI inputs.

The better option is to buy a little at a time and build something superior to a home theater in a box. There are closeouts on decent, brand new Denon and Marantz receivers around this time frame every year as they start making way for the next model year gear. You can find them at up to 50% or so off. Get something with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

Then look at budget or midrange speakers and a quality sub from Monoprice, SVS, HSU Research, Ascend Acoustics, and the like. Don't get it all at once if you're on a budget.

Don't waste your time, money, and energy on cheap junk.

Any idea where to shop?
Amazon, BB, Target and Wally world are pretty much the only websites I remember and know and trust ( Amazon not so trusting)

Might get some better answers if you start a thread about what your wanting audio wise.

But here is a place I have used to buy receivers and speakers in the past for a great deal.
