The particular speaker and/or sub brands I mentioned are internet direct.

I have received pretty competitive prices from AV Science (I've dealt with a salesman named J.D. in the past - AV Science, a dealer out of New York state, used to own and operate the AVS Forum) and I believe Value Electronics (Robert Zohn), also based in New York, has closeouts from time to time.

Also, if you look at the Amazon dealer listings on a particular receiver and then cross reference them to the manufacturer's list of authorized dealers, you have a better idea of whom to trust through Amazon's site. Listen Up from Colorado and Electronics Expo are but two legit brick 'n' mortar AV businesses who sell via Amazon.

You need to consider room size, seating distance from your TV or projection screen, and other variables to best match speakers, subs, and receivers together.

PM me if you have any questions and I will do my best to help you out.

That’s how much mine was also. Hopefully this means they’re updating the 820 in September. Lord knows it needs one.

Just finally ordered the UB820, to access the 4K disc with ATMOS to display on my BenQ 1080p.

Is there a lot of learning curve with setting up the HDR->SDR? Guessing it is very complicated since this is over 200 pages.

If you were given 4K and Blu Ray of the same movie, the soundtrack is the same, which one would you choose to play on the 1080p setup?

What does it need? It's perfectly fine.

Just like all new gen DV, they clip. Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic, they all clip thanks to Dolby.

I was told by a BB Magnolia store employee that a new Panasonic 4k player will hit the market by the end of the year.
Is there any truth to that?
Has anyone heard anything?

Dunno but I doubt it. Panasonic won’t be showing anything new at CEDIA 2019 that’s for sure.

Panasonic hasn't had a booth at CEDIA since they stop selling flat panels, so that isn't really an indication of whether they'll have new players or not. Maybe we'll hear something from IFA before that will give a better indication.

I don’t mean because there is no CEDIA for Pana there is no announcement. What I meant is that there is no announcement plan during CEDIA time. (The UB9000 was announced for Canada around CEDIA time last year)

Can you elaborate on what you mean here? What's the deal with Full Metal Jacket?

He means the chassis instead of being plastic.

Panasonic does not have an exhibit on the CEDIA show floor, but they do have an off site suite for press and invited guests.

I've been comparing the UB9000 and LX500 in my system for the past week or so and I'm at a loss as to why I'm failing to get good results with the Panny's much vaunted HDR Optimizer.

The UB9000 is connected directly to my Sony A9F (audio is sent to my receiver via eARC). This first screenshot is from the DV demo clip on the S&M UHD disc:

This shot is from the HDR10 clip with HDR Optimizer enabled:

This is consistent with what I see throughout the demo. Highlights are completely blown out. I have the display type in the player set to OLED. What am I missing?

No way it's right. Something is wrong with your settings on you oled for hdr10. Probably on vivid lol. DV preset is pretty accurate out of the box. Hdr optimizer can't fix your bad presets or calibrations. You need to have your set calibrated.

Tip: When HDR 10 kicks in, select Technicolor or isf. At least with those presets you get decent out of the box picture for HDR 10.

Edit: My bad I didn't see you said you had a Sony oled. I have a lg OLED so I am not sure what's really going on..

My A9F is set to Custom for Pro 1, Expert 1 color temp, calibrated with CalMAN AutoCal. The problem isn't the display settings.

HDR10 content is watchable (Interstellar looks great), but this scene is particularly is bad when compared to the DV version.
