I'm looking to purchase a 4k blu-ray player that does HDR10 and Dolby Vision. I like that Sony players have the display feature to show bit rate. Do other player manufacturers have this feature on their players as well?
Sorry if this isn't a good spot for this post. But I'm looking for recommendations. Thanks. Feel free to direct me to another forum or send a PM. |

The Sony machines show more info about the disc (including bit rate and sampling rate) than other machines that I have including the Panasonic, Pioneer and Oppo machines.

Has anyone ever had issues with triple-layer discs on the Panasonic?
I've taken note of it as @chip75 mentioned it earlier, but haven't received examples of titles showcasing the issue. I can't just pick a random release, I would need concrete examples where the issue can be reproduced by Panasonic. Also, does anyone know if there's an existing channel for us consumers to report disc playability issues? I mean, is there a submission form designed for this purpose somewhere, or would you submit through customer support and receive a case number? Has anyone ever sent information like this, where did you send it? |

I'm planning on buying the UB820. I've heard that there have been issues with DV, e.g. clipped highlights. Has anyone here experienced this? if so, have Panasonic released an upgrade fix? Also, I read somewhere (possibly here) that LG Oled owners have hade issues specifically with the UB820 (I have an LG CX 65").
Is the UB820 still worth the money? I've looked at the UB450, which is priced at circa 200$ compared to 550$ for the UB820 here in Sweden. It lacks the HCR processor but according to a review (I forget the site) the UB450 doesn't have the DV issue with clipped highlights, although it performs worse in every other aspect of PQ, still being a very good player though(according to the reviewer. Is the extra 350$ worth the money? I know the UB820's design/build quality is better, and that it has better audio options, the remote, display, etc. I'm talking about PQ. Is the difference significant? I'm willing to pay extra for a bit better PQ. However, if it's barley noticeable I don't think it's worth 350$. |

Hi peeps. Ive just bought a used UK region free UB820 which has been modded by 'The Perfect Signal'. I love the functions and HDR optimiser but I'm really puzzled when I play some old R2 DVD.
Instead of the player playing the movie at 4K/50p for a PAL/576/25fps movie, it instead plays it at 4K/60p. The movie playes and is jagged. I played the same R2 disc on my Xbox One X and it played fine at 4K/50p. For once I thought that I actually put in a blu ray edit of the movie. I've tried fiddling around with the settings but no joy. Firmware version is 1.60. Please help |

Ive tried your suggestions way before hand. Xbox is upscaling the DVD at 4K/50p whereas the UB820 is upscaling it at 4K/60p which is causing judder to the image and distortion to the subtitles

How has it been modded? With the ‘special’ firmware or a chip? In any case, try setting it to region B and see what happens.

No idea if its hard or soft modded. I bought it off a lady off facebook marketplace (£250) who bought it off amazon uk (£450) from the The Perfect Signal (its tpk . uk . com ). This company sells modded Panasonic players

My season 6 disc 2 of the office will not play in my 820 at all i even turned it on and off and my oppo 203 plays it just fine lol WTF.. i tried multiple times. Only thing wrong with the discs is the inner circle is not aligned a little bit, but i had discs like that before that played fine.

If you haven’t already contacted Panasonic then I would but you can try to contact the manufacturer of the office because the discs might be defective however this sounds like Panasonic needs to release a firmware update to allow it to play correctly In the player. I what I would do is take the the office to like a bestbuy and see it plays correctly in the 820 unit and If It doesn’t then you will know for sure.
