Note: From looking at the manuals the N2QAYA000175 is the remote for the USA's DP-UB9000 and the N2QAYA000172 is the UK's DP-UB9000EB model. I couldn't find the US remote on eBay. The 130 and 131 are remotes for the DMP-UB900 the model that predated the DP-UB9000 (I think that's why it doesn't have the HDR Settings button on the remote).
Thanks. So then the EU regions were graced with a more useful remote sounds like.

The N2QAYA000172 looks like the most optimal choice for the 820 as it retains the hdr button, but seems harder to find in the US at least.

Another COVID 820. It just seems like these 420s, 820s, and 9000s that have been bought during the Pandemic have been faulty.

I checked both of my remotes. Neither one has those cool buttons. My remotes are rather old too, from at least a year ago. I downloaded the remote settings for the Harmony remote and it did not include those buttons either.

Not really. Have two 820's that haven't had a hitch that I bought in early 2021. I think it's completely random. If anything it was the 2019 models that were more finicky for me (sometimes giving the messy pixels video requiring disc cleanup).

Any advice would be appreciated.
Have you tried performing a factory reset on the player? I had a few issues with mine to begin with, culminating in the Blade Runner 4K disc falling apart in a pixilated mess, but once I reset the player I've been fine so far

To be honest I hadn't noticed the the UK model had the MANUAL SKIP buttons for the UB9000 and they're not on the US model (I'll try and see what Canada had)!

Bear in mind that the skip doesn't work with MKV files (at least it's mentioned in the manual).

I did do a factory reset in the settings with no luck. I don’t know if there is another Factory Reset that Resets the whole system.

Try using a different HDMI cable just to see if any changes happen, it likely won't do anything but who knows.

Is the firmware updated? if not update it.

Definitely sound though like the optical drive could be going bad which is crazy because I have had no issues with mine and have been using it for years. You said your purchase date was 10/20 so very unusual to have an optical drive go bad that fast.

One thing you could do is power it off first, unplug it from the back of player and leave it unplugged for an hour or a few hours. Plug it back in sometimes it resets the optical drive when the player restarts assuming something is out of alignment. Good luck, I feel for ya this definitely sucks.

Anyone having issues with burned BD on the 9000? A movie locked up twice recently, with no visible defects. Think this is the first time it has happened on a particular disc more than once.

A burned BD could have a million reasons to go wrong. Authoring, Codec, Video support etc,etc...
Manufacturers don't really aim for that type of disc.

I was reading through disclaimers on my UB820. It had rattlebyte written over it. So basically TPS (THE PERFECT SIGNAL) used rattlebyte mods to mod the UK blu ray player

If you have another UHD/BD player try it on another player and see what happens. Since it's burned media it could be the disc or the player just doesn't like the disc for whatever reason.

They did with MOD BD-R but alot of MOD titles recently have been pressed so maybe they finally got the memo.

So I'm assuming still nothing from Panasonic about if they ever plan to issue another firmware update? Did Robert ever respond on what he found out with testing the 1.68 firmware?

Some people are reporting issues with Almost Famous in it's thread. So far it appears to be primarily with the 820 so potentially yet another disc that will be on the ever growing list.

Yep, looks like another one. So disappointing that Pannysonic aren’t bothering to update them, if these were pitiful portable picnic players I could understand it but they’re such good players otherwise with genuinely useful features. Trouble is it’s getting to the point where I’ll only use my 820 to check the metadata levels as I don’t know if the DV or whatever will have problems.

Yeah, don't understand Panny's lack of support. Overall love my 9000, but having issues with increasing number of discs. Always appreciated OPPO and their updates, and responding to feedback about a particular issue. We are ignored by Panny.

I had the Oppo 203 prior to the 820 and sold it as I was having problems with several discs that played fine in my old Samsung first-gen UHD player. Even had Oppo replace the optical drive and it didn't help.

Wish now I had kept the Oppo but it doesn't look like Oppo has updated firmware since 2019 either. I know they are out of the player market but I thought Oppo had said they would still issue updates at a less frequent pace.

Default DP-UB9000P1K support for Atmos/TrueHD for files streamed from NAS

Looks like DP-UB9000P1K is coming soon. Would you happen to know if Panasonic fixed the issue where videos streamed from a NAS did not support digital audio (e.g. TrueHD or Atmos)?

Thx.

That wasn't a fault per se, it was a "feature." The studios don't want you streaming lossless audio from ripped files as they see this as a deterrent. Many player manufacturers complied with the lawyers.

Even so, the OPPO laughs at discs the 820 chokes on.
