Panasonic UB820/UB9000 4K UHD Blu-ray player

Posting here in case someone doesn't see my post in the Halloween 4k thread. The new shout factory Halloween has flickering brightness levels in Dolby Vision similar to Ghost in the Shell. I've got an 820 with the Chinese sourced 1.66 firmware.

I've also watched Far From Home on my LG C9 with my Panny 820 and it doesn't seem faded out to me. You sure you have the right settings on the Optimizer for your TV? That and are you sure your TV also has the proper settings in place for HDR 10 content.

Thanks for the tip. I see a number of others mentioning this issue in the Halloween thread now. All appear to be using Panasonic players. Looks like we can add another title to the list of DV discs that Panny players choke on.

So, you won't even believe this... I just tried a firmware update on my 9000 and it is currently downloading 1.69...

Just completed the installation. Tested the offending spot in Knives Out. It played flawlessly. Consider me stunned.

I can confirm that the 820 also has the same update as well!! And from what it sounds like, they may have fixed the Dolby Vision issues, which is awesome!! Had a feeling Panasonic was working on something!!

1.69 fixes the problems with Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon flickering.

I’ve not tried any of my other problematic discs yet.

Checked both the Knives Out and Ghost in the Shell (1995) 4K discs after installing the new firmware and both play flawlessly. This is such wonderful news. I was honestly convinced Panasonic wasn't going to provide any further firmware updates. And what perfect timing since it also appears to resolve the Dolby Vision flicker issues on the new Scream Factory Halloween disc.

Ok, never noticed that. Can also confirm that my copy of UK Studio Canal release Farmageddon did not flicker in Dolby Vision. Maybe because I've had 1.69 firmware from very early on. I bought 820EG a month ago to pair my second TV (LG CX). Panny came with 1.64 but few days later before I had any time to actually watch any movie I updated it to 1.69A (Enhanced firmware) to gain region freedom. Panny must have released 1.69 some time ago in other regions?

I also have Knives and GitS but have not watched those with Panny. They also flickered in DV?

What's the process if you download from their site? Unzip the file and pop it on a USB stick?
