I used to have that same problem with my LGC9 and my friend recommended betters cables. The new cables fixed the issues so I hope you are able to find some good ones.

I use the "Inteset 4-in-1" remote: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M4I1BAY/

It's not perfect (the backlights only light up after you push a button, for instance), and the default layout is absurd and needs some tweaking by remapping buttons, but it's a zillion times better than the default "oops I hit Netflix again" remote, and not as much of a heavyweight system as Harmony stuff.

Go to eBay and search for the ub9000 remote. You can find it for $15. Just make sure it has the ub9000 buttons on it because the ub900 remote looks very similar and gets mixed up with search results.

This is the one I bought and I love it. It's back lit and has a -10s button on it too!

Just got my second UB9000 from the woot deal. $799.99 a pretty good deal considering the days of the high build quality UHD players is probably coming to an end. I know it's essentially the 820 but it just feels like a higher quality unit. I own the 820 as well.

Thanks
Best bet is to mod your player or purchase an all-region player. But you may also try your luck by using the top menu trick which works for some discs but not all.

The trick rarely works, if ever, with Shout discs. Criterions and Arrows usually work, but the Shouts and Kinos do not.

Yep and vice versa on most Eureka, Indicator, BFI and Arrow titles for those residing in region A territory.

Yep. I've long said that it benefits region A owners more than it does region B persons.

With the top menu trick to access a region locked disc sometimes you have to go at it for a few minutes. Press top menu and if it won't access disc menu and says invalid region than press stop and repeat process over and over. If it doesn't access disc menu after like 5 to 10 mins of trying over and over again with remote forget it. I have a region A machine so yeah it's possible the USA discs are more stubborn on a region b machine.

I just wanted to chime in about the Dolby Vision experience with the latest firmware update. While it did solve the flickering issue to a large degree, it did introduce new problems, most notably with the new 4K disc for Scream (1996). In regard to that disc, green and purple bars would flash on the screen intermittently for a single frame at a time. Opening pop-up menus while the film was playing was the easiest way to trigger this glitch, but it would also occur without additional input. This problem was non existent while watching the film in standard HDR10.

My T.V. is a Sony X900H.

Different TV, but when watching the Scream UHD on my Sony ZD9 there were no green and purple bars.
