Is your receiver on Auto sound decode? Make sure any upmixer is off. That would probably mean Dolby Surround and Neural:X if you have a fairly up to date model. It could also be on an all-stereo mode as well. |

It may be stuck on a DSP mode. You might need to do a hard factory reset of your receiver. |

I have a UB820, production Sept. 2022 with firmware 1.70 as well & would also like to know of it's advance over the 1.69 from a year previous. I'm also seeing online, an update as of May 30, 2022, of firmware update 1.76 which seems to be the latest (?). Wondering why my Sept. 2022 unit would not have this firmware installed. Can't find info. Thanks for any insight.

For these players, DMP-BDT170/171/174/175/270/271/370/371/373/374/375, there is a firmware update 1.76 from May 30, 2022. https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com...t170/euro.html For the DP-UB9000/UB9004/UB820/UB824/UB420/UB424 players, the latest available online is still 1.69. Panasonic has not said anything what differs that from the 1.70. After all, all things noted from 1.60 to 1.69 was only "Playability of Blu-ray Disc". https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com...b420_euro.html |

Need some help. I got a new Sony X90L TV yesterday. Set up my UB820 player with it and was trying out some films. For some reason when I put on Universal films like Jurassic World Dominion and Halloween Ends the menu text doesn't appear when it's playing in Dolby Vision, when I set it to HDR its fine. Also if I push the option menu the text will appear. Can anyone help please?

Which ones I'm curious do not work for you. For example this month I watched both Delirium (1987) and After the Fall of New York. These are the two methods I use: Method 1 - - Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear - Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button - Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie Method 2 - - Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear - Press Stop - Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button (You may have to press this a few times) - Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie Last edited by grodd; 07-18-2023 at 06:50 PM. |

I've been wanting a UB9000 for a bit so I just made that as my excuse to drop a grand on a region modded one so I wouldn't have to worry about it again and they now all play perfectly. I still have my UB820 for sale but no buyers surprisingly. I guess everyone already has one heh. |

No, not similar intensity. Center channel is definitely loudest. And it’s not a receiver issue as it doesn’t happen I put my LG UBK90 back in

Officially experienced my first non-scratch related glitch with the 820.
Decided to check out the bonus features blu from the recent-ish 4K release of 1776 the other day. Alas, the Panny outright wouldn't read it no matter what I tried. Initially I thought it must be a bad physical pressing, but then it played without issue on my older Sony S6700, which ruled that out. Perhaps it's a firmware compatibility issue of some sort? Yes, but funny enough it actually seems to be just a problem with this Blu-ray (Batman Beyond, which should be 2.0). I just tried another disc (Batman: TAS) and it played in 2.0 like it should. So I am not sure why this one Blu is being output like this.

If you are watching Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, it will be in 5.1 surround sound. If you are just watching the series, it should be in 2.0.

I can take some pics in a bit, but very odd it’s only happening with Batman Beyond. I’ve now tried two other Blus with 2.0 tracks and they played just fine
