Hi, I hope y'all are doing well and hope you guys can help me out!
So I basically have the Panasonic UB820. But I bought it from a site in the UK called tps. Where they make the Player Multi-region so any disc would work on it. This is the site. TPS - The Perfect Signal Ltd Please let me know if they are like considered the best Company to buy from If i want to get a Multi-Region player or not! And if i like made the right choice buying from them. Or if i was dumb to do that lol. Anyways so I have a few discs. And I wanted to try out John Wick 3 and La La Land. And in this one scene in John Wick 3. The Movie would basically freeze and there would be artifacts all over the screen. And I had the same exact thing with La La Land aswell. So I decided to try both on the PS5 aswell. Just to know if this is a Player Problem Or a Disc Problem. With La La Land the disc worked just fine on the PS5. No Freezing. No Artifacts. Its just normal. However with John Wick 3 on the PS5. It has the exact same problem where it freezes/artifacts. So with John Wick 3 sure. Im 100% its a Disc issue now. But like what about La La Land? Could this be a Disc issue? Or is it actually a Player issue? Please let me know! These aren't my photos. They are from Google. But these are basically the problems im having. Heck im even getting worse than this where its multiple colors. Red, yellow, blue, white, pink and others. https://imgur.com/a/ezUC34S |

A note to those already on RB 1.76 - online update will not work as the versions are the same so the update must be done by USB. Also I found that I needed to re-enable the special features by doing a region change. |

The 420/820/9000 players all use the same firmware. There is a free version available on the avforums site. However its not a simple upload by USB and requires patching the firmware on the player. Only firmware 1.69 is supported at the moment. If you are on version 1.76 then rattlebyte is the only option.

Hi, I have the Panasonic UB820 player and I am having a problem with it. Every 4k and blu ray disc works fine except for a animated 4k disc I just bought, it always freezes. I went to the store and they had no problem playing the disc.
If my player is starting to go, is this normal for it to start having a problem with one disc or should all of my discs be having problems ? |

I’d advise you to keep throwing discs at it, especially ones from the shitty Mexican plant (Criterion, Shout, etc), and see if the problem presents itself again. Make sure to expedite this testing if the player is covered by a warranty that’s ending soon. |

It worked fine for over a year, playing hundreds of discs. First it had trouble with The Last Duel. (3 copies tried, 3rd had no issues) It worked fine on many discs after that. A bit later, it had problems with Casino Royale. (4 copies tried, 4th had no issues because it was a different pressing from a different studio) It worked fine on many discs after that. A bit later, it had problems with West Side Story. (4 copies tried, never got one to work properly on it) Finally, it made Singin' in the Rain look like an explosion of colored pixels, and I gave up and bought a new one. It's important to note that at this point, as I replaced my machine, it still played most discs fine. It was only ever certain discs, it just got to be enough that I decided to replace it. SHORT ANSWER: Yep, that's a fairly normal first sign your player is going. Certain discs seem to cause more trouble than others. |
