"Ages"? Nosferatu came out 3 months ago, you have a funny perception of time...

There are actually 5 titles and these 5 titles represent 25% of the titles that has been tested for this kind of Dolby Vision corruption.

Well, as I see it, it is twofold: something on the disc is triggering this. That is one problem.
The other problem is with the player that it is vulnerable to this kind of corruption and it is still there for the next DV title which does not have the issue. Even though it goes away with a power off/on and/or pause/play-combo in some cases, it shrieks of bad behaviour.

1. For Nosferatu it’s not the disc. It’s the master. Identical “problem” on Kaleidescape too.
2. 2 titles / 5 titles in the grand schemes of 1000 discs out there are nothing and still dictates that those are mastering errors.
3. No one can see the error until it’s tested using test pattern and/or being pointed out means the problem is simply making a mountain out of a molehill

Is this player more reliable than the Sony 700x? 100GB discs are much more common now and having them skip all the time is insane.

From time to time I been popping in and out. Seeing some mentioning the pixelation issues. For me it happens so far only on blu-ray and not 4K but I need to keep an eye out for 4K now seeing others bring it up. Maybe it might be time to get a different manufacturer.

Just started using it this week.

May I ask: is there any way to disable the pop-up windows that appear on the top right corner of the screen? For example, I'm on the main menu of a disc, and press to start it, and it shows a window saying something like "Ultra HD Blu-Ray", and "Play" when the chapter starts playing. Other times things like "Dynamic Range Conversion Output" appears on the top of the screen as well.

This isn't problematic for modern films, where you have these long intros, but on older films, like the one I was watching last night, the film starts right away (no black screen with logos), and these windows can be a bit annoying.

Hopefully there's a way to prevent them from appearing.

thank you
Sorry for "bumping" my previous question, but does anyone know if there's any option to disable the pop-up windows that I mentioned, when I press to play a film?

thank you

They stay on for a few seconds. Not sure what the issue is.

For modern US films, where the first minutes are a black screen, with various production logos, that's perfectly fine, it's not really obstructing anything.

But, several of the films I recently watched were 60's/70's Italian films, where they start straight away with an actual visual shot, and those pop-up windows are obstructing a portion of the image. It's not a deal breaker, but if I can prevent them from showing, all the better.

What are you talking about? I posted it on the Panasonic FB player group, which I considered to be appropriate.

Other groups I asked recommendation for a SERIOUS problem I was having with my particular display, ultimately related to that other problem (as later found), which led me to interact to other users who, thanks in part to my experience, could confirm and measure the issue, even finding it's more spread that originally thought.

Now, if not having the correct Dolby Vision and gammut readings a disc and a not so cheap player are promising you is perfectly negligible, please be my guest and be happy to ignore these posts. For me personally, it was even causing my display to act up, so it was hard not noticing it.

For the 1st time ever, I’m actually having an issue with my 6 year old Panasonic 820!

I’ve noticed lately that the picture seems to be a lot hazier than normal. I wasn’t sure at 1st what was going on. But from what I could tell tonight, it seems to be an issue with the Deep Color setting. I had to change it from 12 bit Priority to 10 bit and then back to 12 bit.

I don’t think it’s an issue with the TV as it seems to remedy itself by switching around on the Deep Color setting.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it possible the deep color part of the player might be going out?

Update on this:

I decided to do a factory reset on the player and checked it with another HDMI cable to see if it worked and it did. I then did a factory reset on it 1 more time and hooked it back into my setup. Everything has looked good so far and hoping it continues.

It sounds like it was a possible glitch with the player. I have gone back and forth doing comparisons between streaming Dolby Vision and the HDR10 so it's possible the player just had an issue with that. If it comes back, then my HDMI cables may be failing.

I'm enjoying my 9000 but have come across a couple of minor issues. This one is no biggie but the Scorpion Releasing bd disc of Grizzly, when you try and forward chapters and play, gets all pixelated and freezes. If you start it from the beginning, no problem. No issues when using my Cambridge (guess they don't make them quite like they used to).

With the newest firmware update the player takes two or three times longer to load any disc to the menu screen. Not sure if this is a known issue but sorry if I missed it. Maybe I just need to unplug the player to reload the firmware.

I’ve not had that error with my 820, however I have had it with my old 230 (2013 HD panny blu-ray player), it usually is the HDMI cable has moved (it’s not a snug as it used to be), push it in and power cycle it, or turn off the AVR and turn it back on and it’s fine after this.

And don’t even think about BD-R, or DVD-R. Failure rate for those is high.
Funny thing is, most DVDs look better upscaled to 1080p on my 2013 panny 230 bd player, (it does not upscale to 4K), look great on my optoma HD143x projector & 84” screen, but look like crap when played with the 820, especially upscaled to 4K on my cheap 4K Hisense 43”.

Default Check you have clean power

So my 820 used to suddenly just flash snow or flash snow and turn itself off. I think these players are more susceptible to power flow not being perfect. (Cheap parts in power supply? Or are 4K lasers super sensitive?) I had a circuit breaker in my panel that was being overloaded to the point where the breaker was arcing, (it would get hot and was now warped and had a loose connection), NOTE it was NOT the breaker that my panny was plugged into, but another one in the panel. I replaced this breaker (and plugged a device in different place so as not to overload this circuit anymore) and I’ve had no more of these issues.

I read about some people’s issues and wonder if it’s just being sensitive to bad power.

Best to plug it in to a surge protector that also has noise suppression and on a separate circuit from any motor or compressor or other disruptive device. If that is true and having issues, I would check or have a professional check your electrical panel out.

I feel like the UB9000 is crap.

Almost every other 4K i play is always have those digital blocking / freezing / and plays in a slow motion at times or completely jagged

Currently trying to watch VS Jade

It’s so friggin annoying. Never had issues so bad with my OPPO

And let me stress I have a direct power supply from the fuse box and i have my equipment plugged thru a Panamax power conditioner.

No player with this price tag should have disc playback this crappy.

The discs are MINT and just in case I will take them out and wipe them properly.

I wish some company would make a high end player that is worthwhile.

Mine has played everything with zero issues whatsoever, including the entirety of Game of Thrones. Supposedly, those discs are notoriously iffy. Can’t rule out that my Italian discs were a better pressing, of course.

Watching my Black Hawk Down disc tomorrow, which my UB824 only played without issue one out of three times. The issue was very minor, but nonetheless noticeable. This’ll be the realest test for my UB9000 so far, I guess

Also, instead of buying incredibly expensive UHD players, why the heck haven’t you bought an OLED to replace your non-4K/HDR plasma?!

The UB9000 seems overpriced to me for what it is, classic Pioneer Elite decks used to give a better value. I feel the same about the 820 but got it on sale so I have no complaints. As cheap as I got the Sony x700 I still feel it's overpriced for having such a bad design flaw with 100gb discs.
