Dolby should put all their demo clips to netflix or to their website so most of us could demo our systems thru those. They have 2 demo clips on their website that can be played thru the really awful web browser of the panny in here https://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/do...-trailers.html

Remember that the hdr button only increases the dynamic range setting which can be done manually under the HDR settings.

Could some of you that grabbed a reservation spot for the UB9000 please cancel your reservation? I’m on the border between Value Electronics’ December and January allocations and I don’t want to wait until January!

Can I interest you in a Pioneer unit instead?

Mark

I have Dolby demo discs for Atmos demos but the files I had on usb were for both Dolby Vision and Atmos.

May be silly question but can I burn the files onto a blu-Ray and have the player play them that way or would the outcome be the same?

You should just be able to use TSMuxer and generate a blu ray from it. I've made a lot of Atmos 3D discs

Panasonic is very tight with Hollywood in professional matters. I’m sure they have elected not to create problems with their pro division.
Robert not expecting you to back up Panasonic at all. Very happy you have provided us an avenue to purchase their products. It’s up to the buyer to decide if the product is worth the expenditure. I’d love for you to request them to reconsider bringing back TV sales to the US.

Panasonic has a good incentive to, they are no longer selling TVs in the USA.

It would take more than Robert's top highest privileged request.

Safe bet to assume a few that reserved a spot will decide that Holiday spending takes precedence, at least after talking to the misses. Just don’t max that credit card too early

Panasonic will not bring TVs back to the USA if BestBuy keep butchering their bottom line.

One Look at their site tells all. As a earlier discussion where I posted links to Canada/UK and Germany even the pair of players (UB820 and UB9000) that Robert is selling is testing the waters, not necessary a strong push by Panasonic with UHD BD players into the USA marketplace.

Its not BB its the competition being sold at BB and other dealers/big box chains.

Don't underestimate the power and influence of one highly dedicated person to achieve big things. OK, that's acting a little over the top, but my point is that I am not shy and enjoy my self proclaimed position of "advocate for the enthusiasts to the a/v manufacturers and policy makers". Bring the very best premium products to discerning users is one of my personal missions.

If you can do that Robert it would be a real tour-de-force.
Panasonic OLED TVs are recognized as being the best (among) in the world.
They would be a good match for the 9000 player, after a Dolby Vision firmware update.

I believe Panasonic NA and Japan is happy with our and the other few very select authorized sellers of the previous UB900, new UB820 and upcoming UB9000.

It's a low cost way to sell the bulk of the enthusiast's market with a few well selected dealers. Pioneer is doing the same with the new Elite UDP-LX500 distribution in the USA.

Let's wait for CES 2019 as all of the a/v manufacturers will have all of their cards on the table.

Wow they still cant play lossless from a usb stick?????? Anyone know if they can play flacs?

My ub900 was absolutely useless at playing back anything yet my oppo 203 is flawless with atmos/dts:x/hdr/dv files. Such a shame

It is letdown. But there is the HDR Optimizer, Panasonic main raison d'être.

The Oppo 203/205 are going to be talked about for many years to come; how many years did it take before we start talking less about the Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma TVs ...

I *think* FLAC audio is fine on its own, just don't expect it to play FLAC muxed with a video file.
