With my previous Panasonic players all I did was press the top menu button on the remote when the "wrong region" warning screen displayed and it played all region B discs I would throw at them. So maybe this player has the same hack.

He's explained because of its repeat playback of certain sections unlike the Panasonic.
![]() But I don't think there is anything different on the 900 vs the 820 with exception to the great HDR tone mapping and DV support. Which will likely help you with some movies. Not sure of they fixed 480i. I'll have to check with my Simpsons DVD's. |

The first batch of UB9000s are supposed to ship this week. I'm clear over on the west coast so some of you on the east coast and in the midwest will likely get yours sooner than me.
Unless Robert ships them in the order they were paid for. I was pretty quick to actually pay! ![]() Mark |

I didn't mention DV above as I'm not buying the 820 for that. As for the tone mapping, it cracks me up that the assumption is that everybody's been rocking piss-poor mapping since day 1. That may have been true of OLED & projektor owners, as well as plenty of low to mid tier LCDs, but some of us have been more fortunate. ![]() |

Ok, I read through most of the 135+ pages, and I paid attention to Kris' post but I'm still utterly confused about projector setup.
Previously I owned an Oppo 203 but eBay served me well. I mostly use my player for HDMI movie playback, so I picked up a UB820. With the Oppo I passed SDR BT.2020 and used one of the HDR presets on my Epson 6040UB projector. Not sure if I was ever satisfied with the results though. So now I have the UB820. Correct me if I'm wrong for the only settings to change in the UB820: - Set Color Mode to Ycbr 4:2:2 - Leave Deep Color Output to Auto (12bit Priority) - Set HDR TV Type to Basic Luminance I also have Resolution to Auto, 4k60p Off, 24p output Auto, DV Off, HDR10+ On Question 1: Do I need to set HDR/Color Output to SDR/BT.2020 (Auto) Or HDR/BT.2020 (Auto) My projector seems to accept both, and I really don't think I see a difference. There's conflicting information on the pages (some prefer SRD, some HDR). Question 2: Do I need to enable the HDR mode on my projector regardless of HDR/Color Output? Question 3: Any other settings Epson owners recommend? Thanks a lot! |

question for owners of the 820 model--
do you simply keep the same settings for both 4K and 2k playback or do you switch back and forth between "set one" and "set 2" with separate settings? In other words, can you make settings that you're happy with for all blu rays? |

Do most people have a setting that they're satisfied with for playing everything? ** there's a reason I'm asking about this specifically. This is my second go around with this player. After having the player for only 2 days I started messing around with the "set one" and "set 2" options. Almost immediately after that my HDR setting button started not working. It would bypass the HDR settings and go straight to settings such as luminance adjustment, sharpness, etc. It was as if the player was confused and thought that everything I was playing was 1080p and therefore not eligible for HDR 4 k settings. It was probably just a coincidence but I'm afraid with messing with separate settings now because I don't want problems again. I got the player again last night and am very happy with what I'm seeing and hearing so far! Last edited by AKORIS; 01-06-2019 at 06:28 PM. |
