You're referring to the stinkerbell RF Mod, right? Have you tried it? I am in the same boat.

not yet, I basically put everything on hold when the random freezes started up. Might play around with it all this weekend and then attempt the RF mod from there

absolutely! We'll see how long the RF mod takes to progress when I send that request in tomorrow, but I'll try the other method this weekend for my discs that recently have given issue

Dead in the water. Did the reset process, had the same area of issues on the discs. Will get them replaced in next several months, see if it was just discs, if not take player in for Geek Squad appt to check on the lens cleaner.

No such thing as a silly question

I always use the rear USB 3.0 port. The power LED on the hard drive comes on, but all the files and folders are just not there as far as the 820 is concerned.

I know it's not a problem with the drive cos my Oppo BDP-103 has no problems with it.

Just want to chime in and say that the cheaper 420 is the same way, the front USB wouldn't sense a WD portable that I plugged in.

You just have to ignore them. I have a BDT460 and have always seen those. When playing a folder full of files, the player will go to the next file automatically but will stop and say "cannot play this file" when it gets to one of those. The next one will play automatically after that.

So...I picked up a N2QAYA000131 remote (OEM DMP-UB900) to use with my DP-UB820 a while back and it worked great, until this weekend. The back-light started to delay and the response time to press became more and more until it stopped altogether. The included one with the 820 is just awful and can't believe Panasonic would include this with a $500 4K player. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the remote (not the unit) to see if this can solve the problem? I know other manufacturers have way to reset just the remote with direct button input, but I can't find anything for Panasonic. If it's completely dead it'll have to go I guess. I really want the OEM US remote for the DP-UB9000 (N2QAYA000175), but I can't find one anywhere. Robert...any word on getting these, or if we could special order them through you?

Apropos the remote control snafu with these Panny players, I had a look at what I bought my alternative remote for (it's the one from the BDT-700 but does practically everything that the UB900/0 version does, aside from having an actual 'HDR' button) and I got it for £11.99 on ebay three years ago. The same remote now sells for three times as much, literally! I should've bought a load of them at the time.

I thought I checked their accessories website. Thanks and oof...that's pretty pricey. I know many members have asked Robert over at Value Electronics if he can get his hands on some of these for cheaper. I don't think there was a decisive answer if he could or couldn't.

Default Audio Dropouts

Hello all, I have the 820 connected to a Pioneer elite vsx45 using the hdmi audio out from the player directly into the receiver. From what I can tell the dropouts are mostly in DTS. It’ll happen a few times through out the movie (most recent with “ready player one”).

I’ve set the audio out to pcm and bitstream, when I set it pcm, my receiver plays it in DD+. I’m assuming because it doesn’t play the newer formats it down grades the audio.

My receiver does dts Hd master and from what I remember I can’t recall any dropouts.

It never happened my old Samsung 4K player. (Different setup, everything was going to the receiver and arc to the tv). In this case I have hdmi to tv (Sony 950g) and audio hdmi to the pioneer.

I resolved my own issue.......what was happening was that my tv was taking control of the receiver and it would switch the input back to "arc" instead of my dedicated 4k BD inout on my pioneer.

Does anyone know if the Panasonic players can tone map the HDR10 on the inbuilt Netflix app or Netflix from an external source connected by HDMI?

On the internal app I think it's possible,

The second case is impossible: Panasonic Players don't have an HDMI INPUT, just 2 OUTPUTS

If you are streaming any HDR content, from the Panasonic UB820 or Ub9000 the content will be tone mapped by the HDR Optimizer.

Panasonic's UB820 and UB9000 will not tone map any content that is not originated from the BD players Smart Apps menu.
