Any 1080p screen users have any configuration tips to share? Going through the Star Wars 4Ks and dark scenes do feel a bit dim and some scenes perhaps a bit heavy on the red in colour. Will have a play around but any tips from experience are greatly appreciated! I have a Samsung screen if that helps.

Anyone who has the UB-820 confirm if this machine has a last disk spot memory function?

Pretty crazy that the machine Panasonic still sells hasn't been updated to play Knives Out in DV and others!
You would think that these bugs would be ironed out by now! |

Can the next Panasonic UHD BD player have a 2.40:1 AR setting? ..
Like the Oppo 203.... 2.40:1 movies still exist and that type of feature isn't hard to implement. (Though there's a very good chance most people will set it incorrectly.) |

Note that I'm not sure that it remembers for more than one disk though. I was swapping discs at one point and wouldnt allow to resume on a previous movie. Not sure what the limit is. |

So it's a soldering job, although the solder points look quite large to some players I've seen. Below is my Sony's: ![]() |

What resolution should I set this player for dvd and blu ray playback? For 4K I should keep it at auto?

If so (apparently it is so) then it is mastering incompatibility that needs to be addressed by Panasonic.
@Robert Zohn, any news from Panasonic Japan on the new firmware update? My Japan contact have been silent in the past couple of months. ![]() |

One more question. Does the HDR optimizer button needs to be turned on every time turn on the player or watch a new HDR content?

Btw, Could anyone confirm if the ability to adjust subtitles settings (such as brightness) is also present in the ub420, as with its big brothers?

Oh that’s good news. I use my projector with the Smart Eco feature which modulates lamp according to the brightness/white output of the scene in order to save lamp life and show better contrast. Big and white subtitles tend to defy this function. This will help a lot.
