I did not disturb or alter the document from it's original form other than adding my company name and url on the document. No advertising. Adding my company name on the document does not effect or cause any issue in anyway whatsoever from anyone using the document.

Curious, I just updated my player to the most recent firmware after getting the onscreen alert. Update went fine but now it will not play ANY of my UHD discs. When I try to load a disc it just keeps giving me a "This Disc Not Supported" message and goes back to the home screen. I've tried power cycling and lots of different titles, always the same.

I checked Panasonic's website and don't see the operating manual or anything about the UB820.

I work directly with Panasonic product and engineering management, which is how I get engineering production samples months in advance of mass production and work with Panasonic on developing these new BD players to be the best they can be in features and operations.

It's not just a blu ray player, it's a UHD player. If you would like advice, then it would help to know your equipment you are going to pair it with? Like do you have a projector?

The most important and exclusive feature of Panasonic's upcoming UB820 is the new "HDR Optimizer" that can be set to match your 4K HDR TV or projector's peak luminance. The benefit is better HDR image quality with the full color volume and without blowing out the specular highlights.

It's also the only BD player that supports HDR10, Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10+.

Other nice features are the 7.1 analog audio outputs and Alexia and Google Assistant voice control. Panasonic is also well respected for excellent Chroma processing.

Lets be honest
The player does not support Dolby Vision currently (future FW update Fall?). HDR10+ has no physical media, its only usefulness is streaming content via Amazon only.
Now if you have a non HDR10+ TV is there any benefit Robert?

HDR10+ Setting
You can set enable/disable of the HDR10+ function.
By changing this setting to “On”, you can use the HDR10+ function under the following conditions:
– A device that supports HDR10+ is connected
– A disc that supports HDR10+ is played back.
*The “Optimum HDR Adjustment” setting is disabled while using the HDR10+ function.

When the new Oppo players came up back even before they were released, they were touted to support Dolby Vision, the big deal.Then they were released in December 2016 (203), and April 2017 (205).
And how long dit it take before DV was finally in with a firmware upgrade?

Ok taking this off topic for a brief explanation:

There's a huge difference to having to work out the design principals with Dolby Vision partnered with MediaTek before Dolby Vision UHD BD media was even available to the industry then boasting about it as being supported.

Update 21 September 2016: Leading AV journalist John Archer has been informed at a UK briefing that the OPPO UDP-203 and the step-up UDP-205 do have Dolby Vision-capable chipset (custom-built by Mediatek), but they’re still in the certification process.

Yes the rumor spreader John Archer said that not Oppo.

Later you had this late Dec 2016 statement from Jason in HDGuru review

As for the player’s ability to handle the dynamic metadata features of the Dolby Vision format, Jason Liao, Oppo’s product development CTO and VP, told us that “until the player is certified by Dolby to be Dolby Vision compliant, we really cannot talk in details about the upcoming Dolby Vision features other than that it is coming. Outside of the scope of the player’s features and specification, my understanding of Dolby Vision based on their publicly released white paper is that dynamic metadata is an integral part, so I doubt a player can pass the certification without supporting dynamic metadata.”

Now this DV functionality came together very early June 2017 when the first DV UHD BD were available so how long was the public kept waiting Bob?

Well it won't be my ks8000 as Samsung dropped plans to support that with HDR10+ Yeah very future proof.

Most of the industry is just waiting to see how this plays out for Panasonic. But you should try a UB820 if you need another player.
