Thanks

Disable the secondary audio or set it to auto?

Edit:

I've set Dolby, DTS, and MPEG to 'bitstream' and set the secondary audio to off.

The DP-UB820 can play both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision while the DP-UB420 only plays HDR10+. However, both models feature Panasonic's unique HDR Optimizer system to boost the quality of discs encoded in the basic HDR10.

I’m really tempted to upgrade to the NX7/RS2000 but I think I’ll hold off to see if JVC updates their lineup in 2021.
Only use HDR to SDR conversion if using an older display made before HDR. If using an HDR display, leave HDR on for optimal picture quality.

Disable secondary audio. If enabled, you may only get lossy Dolby Digital or DTS.

It's now that price without any coupons.
Time to take my LG player in for a Geek Squad return and then hopefully pick the 820 up for $200.

It's Panasonic's Black Friday promotions on all of their BD players. These are the lowest prices every and will never be this low again in the foreseeable future.
When does the sale end?

Panasonic's UB9000, UB820 and UB420 sale ends Monday, November 30.

These prices, $899.99, $349.99 and $149.99 will not be this low for the foreseeable future.

Just curious if you have heard anything about if Panasonic has newer models coming soon ?

From what I'm told no new Panasonic BD models are planned for the near future. I am working on a few firmware updates again and hope to see them by Q1 2021.

Curious if anyone has paired one of these players with the TCL 6-Series TV, specifically the 65inch r635 model. Picture quality good? How does the Optimizer work with it?

Any firmware updates regarding the HDR Optimizer?? I love the Optimizer already but would love it see it have more options for us. In other words, it would be nice for us to pick the highest nit value of the TV's limit to tone map and then the Optimizer can pick it up from there.

Fixing the stuttering DV playback on Midway and Knives Out and the flickering on the DV of Ghost in the Shell (1995) are absolute priorities for me rather than tarting about with any new features. That they are all Lionsgate UHDs should shirley make it easier to get to the root of the problem, even if you have to contact Lionsgate themselves to find out what authoring tools they're using so you can investigate it from there.

This has been dragging on for far too long, I understand there's a global crisis and whatever but I'm verr disappoint in Panasonic for not doing anything about it, and it's making using DV with the Pannys a bit of a crapshoot. That's not what we'd expect from a premium product, and that they're not planning on making any new players (whereupon the 'fix' is usually embedded into them) makes it doubly important that they sort the problems with their extant ones.

I ordered the UB820 this past weekend from B&H Photo Video as soon as I saw the $350 price tag. After years of using an Xbox One X as a Blu-ray player, I'm very interested to how they differ on my LG E8.

You are going to love it! Once you get your settings properly put into the player and your TV is set, the picture quality will blow you away. Never had a better player in my life!

I'm no expert but it might require a drastic overhaul of the way the Optimiser works, at least as far as the front end is concerned, and I'm not sure there's the will there for such a deep dive into the workings of it.

I believe the HDR Optimizer is tunable in the processor.
