Yes, and like I said Knives Out played all the way through with no hiccups. Midway did have the hiccups everyone's been talking about, 2 spots within about a minute of each other. When that disc froze, I just hit fast forward and the movie resumed without advancing much if at all and the rest of the movie played fine. I've only had this player for a few days and I new in advance that it has problems playing a handful of discs, but I can live with that and hope there's a firmware update that will correct those issues.
My main reason for believing I have a defective unit is because I'm having issues playing standard bd's. Not all, just the ones I mentioned. I know its not the discs because they work perfectly in my other cheaper players? I have not changed any settings on the player at all, even the hdr optimizer is set at the right default setting for my display. Also I don't see or know how to do a factory reset? I'd like to try that before returning it. And finally, I don't know if I want to exchange it or just get a refund. I do have the Sony ubp-x800m2 player that has worked flawlessly for me (I know others have had issues but I haven't) and my finger is strong enough to turn dv on and off ![]() |

I decided to follow-up on a case I opened with Panasonic NA regarding the Knives Out/Midway DV issue. I received the below:
"Regarding your case, rest assured it's escalated and under revision. We're apologizing for the delay, but rest assured it's under revision with the senior technical department further. If you encounter more inquiries, please feel free to contact us and we will reply to you. Have a nice day! Best regards, Panasonic Consumer Support Team." Not sure if it means anything, but I just thought I'd post their update. |

The only standard blu-ray i've experienced playback issues with is Vinegar Syndrome's release of Rest in Pieces. I sent them an email about it, they said a few customers have reached out about playback issues, and they will review it with their replication team. It played fine in my PS5

Mordor, we have a problem. Disc 1 of the EE of Fellowship won’t play in my 9000. Says “disc is not compatible.” Disc 2 plays fine, as does all the others, both TE and EE. Just disc 1 of the EE of Fellowship. Any ideas? Did I get Smeagol‘d?

So, I’ve been experimenting with the Dynamic Tone Mapping setting on my C9, and I noticed that the picture seems to become brighter when turning it on, and become dimmer when turning it off, and I wanted to ask, what would you guys recommend leaving it on? I’m asking this here because I also have the 820 with the optimizer on pretty much all of the time, and with the player set to OLED.

The HDR Optimizer works well with OLEDs because it can tonemap 4000 to 1000 without really altering anything below 1000. From there, let the TV do the rest without DTM. |

![]() Grain of salt here... that’s just one of their releases so it’s not a certainty all of them will work, but it’s good news nonetheless. |

But make sure to test out and see for yourself. You might simply prefer another setting like others who have found better results with other methods

Not sure if this is the right space for it, but "shotgunning" this question/issue in multiple places
Recently switched from a Vizio soundbar to the JBL 9.1 system. I have a Sony A8H and a Panasonic UPB820 4k player. I noticed I cannot get Dolby Vision with my Panasonic plugged in to the bar's HDMI input. I get Atmos. And everything I've read says this bar SHOULD do Dolby Vision passthrough, but all of my DV discs just display as standard HDR10. I've tried a few different certified high speed HDMI cables and no difference (and never had the DV issue with my old Vizio bar). Is there a setting on the bar or with the player I need to have active to get Dolby Vision? |
