Correct. I have two HDMI cables - one to TV and one to AVR.

I am going to do a test tonight where I unhook the TV to see if it changes the ouptut.

Can you list a few of the titles you're having issues with?

Any title that has LPCM track as a source.

Bram Stoker's Dracula
Dirty Dancing
3:10 to Yuma

Those were the ones I tested directly but I own about 13-15 titles with LPCM tracks larger than 2.0.

Can you check 300? I have the UK release and it has LPCM 5.1. I can check my player later on.

I'll look into this also. This reminded me that I tried to watch a blu-ray with multichannel PCM a while back and my av sync was way off. I add 126ms on my Denon X2600 going to an LG B7, but I had to double that to about 250ms in this case. I wonder if this is related in some way.

I see a few similar issues reported here and on AVSforum however no one seems to have a solution.

If I use legacy Blurays with multichannel LPCM tracks it seems my 820 will take that signal and convert it to PCM 2.0. I can see the multichannel track output but the signal is modified ON the 820.
No issues with mine. 5.1 LCPM gives me proper 5.1 playback.

My player has a single HDMI connection in to my Denon receiver.

Didn't have any issues with 300 and 5.1 LPCM. I did have to select that from the menu as it defaults to DD out the gates.

Your receiver hasn't switched to 2.0 for that codec? have you cycled through the audio options with your AVR? can you post your player's settings?

Thanks for testing. All codecs work as expected except for LPCM multichannel. They are converting to 2.0 PCM for some reason.

My settings are as follows:

Dolby Audio Bitstream
DTS/DTS-HD Bitstream
BD-Video Secondary Audio OFF
Audio Output ON
7.1ch Audio Reformatting OFF
Downmix Surround encoded

---

I am using two cables and unfortunately I was unable to test anything last night. I will look to test today with one cable to see if it makes a difference. I am thinking before I pull the cables out(not as easy as it should be) - I might turn off Audio via HDMI to see if that changes anything. The audio specific cable might not be linked to that setting and perhaps the HDMI is downgrading the LPCM due to the TV. I might test that after my morning meeting.

Panasonic Support was useless as they said PCM 2.0 is expected. I think they missed the point that it is taking an LPCM 6.1/5.1 signal and converting it to PCM 2.0.

What settings do you have for your dual HDMI outputs? I think HDMI (Video) should be on Auto and HDMI (Audio) should be on Audio Only.

Those are the settings I currently have.

I am thinking of turning HDMI AUDIO to OFF as someone in avsforum said it could conflict.

I will test that later today.

I think if you turn off HDMI Audio it will disable the sound as it expects audio to be outputted through the Toshlink optical lead.

You're just using two HDMI leads? you don't have analogue leads or an optical lead connected?

It might be worth doing a hard reset.

Your Pioneer is set to Specifications > Settings > Listening Modes > Playback Function > Multich PCM (Multichannel PCM)?

I've been diving into these 4K player threads for close to two years to figure out which one to replace my current cheapo LG player with. My head is spinning with all this, and I was all set to get the LG UBK90 at its sale price, but now with this on sale (and only 3 left near me) I kinda wanna get this.

I just upgraded to a 65 inch TCL 6 series QLED. Is it overkill for me to spend $400 on this Panasonic player? Or should I opt for either the Sony or LG players that support Dolby Vision?

Any help would be hot.

The 820 has the best picture quality of the lot. It also upscales better than the other players. If you can afford it get the 820.

Go for the Panasonic. Having used all those players, it is far better and worth the extra money.

The UBK90 has very little feature-wise, and mine couldn't play through a 100gb disc without freezing. I sent it to LG for service 3 times and this was never fixed. If you get one that works, it might be good enough, but it's still a barebones unit.

The Sony X700 also lacks the nice features of the Panasonic, plus Dolby Vision has to be toggled on and off manually, which is incredibly annoying.

Ordered the 820 a couple of days ago..$100 off at Crutchfield. I've since read of some issues with Dolby Vision and Vizio TVs w/this player. My set is a Vizio. Does anyone here by any chance have this player paired w/a Vizio TV?
