I might have to try that. I had it plugged into an old extension cord, if put it in the wall it should get enough power right?

Many of them are in perfect or great condition and are brand new. My Blu-ray player is less than a year old and it is extremely frustrating. I was trying to get Band of Brothers disc 1 to play the other day for hours. It would not work when a couple of months ago it would play just fine.

Yes, plugging it straight into the wall should give you enough power. However, I would recommend getting a surge protector. I have this one and it rocks: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15874

Hi, what do you mean 'won't work'? are you getting an error message?

Do a factory reset on the TV and the Player. Try a different hdmi port on the TV. Disconnecting everything else besides the TV and player. Try a new hdmi cable rated for at least 18gbps from a reliable brand, preferably hdmi 2.1 48gbps. And clean the discs with dish soap and water, even if they look clean because there could be something invisible or microscopic on it. Test it on another TV if you can, to isolate the issue. Try a different power point. Sending back a player should be the last thing you try, even though it could be the issue.

I tried plugging it straight into the outlet and to a surge protector I had but no luck. I’m almost positive that there is something wrong with it. I called Panasonic and they said to send it back and they will fix or replace it.

Sounds like something is failing with the optical drive. Sorry to hear that your having issues. I have had a UB820 for a few years and it's still working fine and I have played some of the discs you have. It has a dust cover so it's not dust. Still a piece of hair could have gotten in or some dust. Before sending it in open tray and take a blower can of compressed air and spray it inside one or two times. Try and see if the discs play better. If your sending it in for repair what do you have to lose anyway. Try a factory reset and see if that helps.

It sounds like there's a problem with your player, but just in case check to see if the player itself is level, we've had a few member here have issues because they haven't noticed that their player isn't on a flat surface.

I have the Belkin Ultra HD High Speed HDMI 2.1 Cable and it still does not want to work. I am going to try a couple of the things you guys said but I have tried pretty much everything already with no luck.

Is there anyone with both the UB820 and the UB9000?

I would be interested in knowing if the remote for the UB9000 works on the UB820. I was considering getting one for the subtitle button. Sometimes I miss a bit of dialogue and I like to rewind and enable subtitles for just a second and then disable them.

Thank you so much. I'll pick up a UB9000 remote then so that I can access the subtitle button.

If you don't mind not having a direct button for the HDR Settings you can pick up the backlit remote for the older player a bit cheaper, and depending on what version you get you can have some extra trick-play options (I think it's jump backwards 10 seconds, forward 30s) or programable options for different model TVs.

Bear in mind that the subtitle buttons brings up the menu, it doesn't cycle through the options, the pop-up menu might be faster.

Thank you for the recommendation. I never use the HDR button. Which older player would that be?

The jump backwards/forward buttons sound very useful.

So the subtitle button just opens the menu and highlights subtitle like the CC button does for closed captions? Not sure why Panasonic did that. Not the most practical way.

As far as I remember both the SUBTITLE and AUDIO buttons work that way, they open up the on-screen submenu. They don't cycle with my 420 or 820.

The N2QAYA000131 is the US remote that has the TV control function.
The N2QAYA000130 (right below)) is a Canadian remote that has MANUAL SKIP -10s and +60s options.

When I bought the 130 it came with a third-party sticker over the Panasonic label. The 131 didn't have a sticker. I think it probably boils down to price, either these or the N2QAYA000172 (I think that has the MANUAL SKIP anyway thinking about it) are great remotes.

Thank you so much Chip!

I'm going to pick up a N2QAYA000130 off ebay.

Sounds like a dream come true Panny remote, 10s back, three press subtitle access (subtitles, down/up, enter), then same for disabling. Much simpler than what I was going through previously. Backlight is the cherry on top.

I wonder why Panasonic opted to remove the manual skip and rewind from newer remotes.

Like I posted, I think the 9000s remote (N2QAYA000172) does have the Manual Skip buttons (along with the HDR Settings button).

Note: From looking at the manuals the N2QAYA000175 is the remote for the USA's DP-UB9000 and the N2QAYA000172 is the UK's DP-UB9000EB model. I couldn't find the US remote on eBay. The 130 and 131 are remotes for the DMP-UB900 the model that predated the DP-UB9000 (I think that's why it doesn't have the HDR Settings button on the remote).
