I even got an email this morning from Panny customer service telling me that the update was now live and that they hope it fixes the DV problems I was having. I first raised this issue with them in April 2020 and a few emails went back and forth before they said they would pass it on to their technical department and get back to me, that was the 28th April and was the last I heard from them...until now. I gotta say, that's pretty damned classy.

Sure, it's taken an absolute fookin age to get this fixed (ye olde pandemic didn't help) which I've bemoaned many, many times on here, but to take the time to go back through their correspondence and let people know it's been sorted is that extra touch of quality customer service on their behalf.

Panasonic: THANK YOU!
Completely agree. There's literally no reason not to stick with Panasonic at this point.

Guys I updated my 820 last night and it did NOT fix the flickering issue I have on my Zombie 4K disc from Blue Underground. I'm starting to think the disc is faulty? I tested the Criterions release of "To sleep with anger" which also had some flickering issues. It seems to be better now. Anyone else that has experinced flickering on regular blu-ray discs? I have to try more titles to see if the update has fixed it completely.

I've had my Panasonic 820 for a few years now and never had a problem. However, I've never bought any of the discs that people said were having problems.

It's great to hear that 1.69 fixes many issues.

Does it come with support for external subtitles? and if, does the font support extended character set (one in 1.66C, didn't support characters as "ążźć", and as those are common in my native language, feature feels useless)

I never got any flickering on Zombie on my 820. But with that one I wondered whether it was something in people's TVs rather than the DV encode itself, like on Deer Hunter where quite a few people (usually with OLEDs) complained of a flicker in the darker scenes.

Weird. I never had flickering on Zombie on both 820 (connected to Panasonic GZ2000 OLED) and 9000 (connected to JVC NX7)

Just updated.
22 minutes over WiFi.
I'm gonna test out Black Panther: Infinity Saga disk to see if it did anything.

My Black Panther UHD has always made my display show the Dolby Vision logo upon loading. I only got that disc a few months ago. The Black Panther disc in the set may not have Dolby Vision encoding similar to The Last Jedi in the Star Wars UHD set.

Why would you want to disconnect it? It allows you to use BD-LIVE features, stream your personal content from your network storage and ask Alexa or Google Assistant to operate the player for you.

And if you don't want to use those features (or any on-line ones) it's preferable to leave it off.

Not everyone likes or uses smart features and there have been cases where updates have bricked the machine. So some folks like to be off the grid.

Black Panther from Infinity Saga and the Individual are different disks.
The colors on the Infinity Saga one are horrible when the player has the DV/HDR settings on.

I wish they made DV/HDR10+ 120ghz tvs without smart features!

But you also said that Spider-Man: Far From Home Also looked bad without Dolby Vision, and that’s a Sony Movie. That leads me to believe your HDR Settings are a little off.

Awesome! Love it. I gave up on Mondo years ago, wasn't worth trying to beat bots. I've got enough of their stuff to make me happy though.
