Yes I have extract it and after that I looked at the properties as per instructions. I have 2 Panasonic UB820/824 players. One European and one from United states. The European download size is exactly the same as the size on the download page. The American download differs. It is 184,184,880 bytes where as on the download page it says that the size should be 184,241,187 bytes. I have downloaded the same file many times but the difference remains.

From what people have found so far it mainly fixes issues with DV discs freezing at layer changes.

Checking the file size Right click on the downloaded firmware, and select "Properties". Make sure that the size of the file is the same as the size listed on the download page. If the file size differs, please download it again. After checking the size, click [OK] and the "Properties" window will close. Decompressing the file Double click the downloaded firmware and decompress it. The decompressed file will be named "PANAEUSB.FRM". As u notice we should check the downloaded file and not the compressed one. Anyway wait my feedback Last edited by Scorxpion; 10-06-2021 at 10:48 PM. |

Just found out about the update tonight. Huge win… I had gotten Scream Factories Halloween and the flickering on DV made it unwatchable. I’ve never had any of the other issues I have read about but had the flickering issue with a few films. Halloween and Raiders of the Lost Ark being the most notable… I was almost ready to buy a more expensive player.

To add, make sure you play around with each of the HDR Optimizer TV settings in the "Settings" menu. Those options were made in 2018 and some of the labels are a bit dated. Like the OLED setting is for the player to tone map anything that is 1,000 nit HDR Content or more. After testing all the settings out on my LG C9 OLED, I figured out the TV does a great job tone mapping things higher than 1,000. This is why I have it set at the highest setting, Super High Luminance (1,500 nits). So, you need to play around with those settings till you find the perfect one for your TV. |

(The China one had a different filename) 184241187 Sep 29 20:14 CH UPDATE_UB9000_V169.zip 184241187 Sep 29 18:54 OC UPDATE_UB420_UB820_UB9000_V169.zip 184241187 Sep 29 18:14 CA UPDATE_UB420_UB820_UB9000_V169.zip 184241187 Sep 29 17:21 EU UPDATE_UB420_UB820_UB9000_V169.zip 184241187 Sep 29 15:24 US UPDATE_UB420_UB820_UB9000_V169.zip And they all had this file PANAEUSB.FRM which was 184184880 bytes and even the CRC-32 checksum was identical for the firmwares which was a bit(!) surprising. Basic or Low Luminance is the 500 nits tonemap target OLED as well as Medium/High Luminance is the 1,000 nits tonemap target Super High Luminance is the 1,500 nits tonemap target I'm not familiar with the projector HDR Optimizer options on the 9000, especially since I only have the 820. But those are the nit tonemap targets. Again, these were made in 2018 or even before which is why I say play with each to see which one works with your TV. |

OK, so the most recent firmware upgrade that fixes DV issues and any other issues is
1.69 Correct? |

Since upgrading to the new firmware (1.69) on my UB9000 I've had no issues. The quirks seem to have gone (touch wood), 'The Thing' UHD played through without issue, my lip-sync issues have gone (fingers crossed), and my multi-region and multi-zone has been maintained. All in all very happy with this update. Early days though
