I'll not say the new firmware is in place because of me, because I don't believe it for a second. It's taken them 1,5 years to deliver playability updates, only that in itself is a joke.

Can anyone of you check the titles in my document and see if the issues have been fixed?

Cheers!
All the same mate... THANK YOU for what you did. Many of us here who are Panasonic owners appreciate what you did there. Very cool.

I think SOME of the issues are the discs and they way they are replicated and manufactured. Quality control seems to have taken a hit (maybe due to covid etc). So some might be player related, but some will be disc issues too.

How would a firmware update to your player help with an issue you were having closing your bluray disc cases?

Maybe there was a bug in the 'operating system' that got corrected when the new firmware was loaded? This could still extend to mechanical operations as they are controlled via the 'OS'.

Edit: I'm talking about the user's actual problem here, not your 'hilarious' post

As a player it starts up a little noisy (but then quiets down). It’s terrible at anything other than playing discs, so forget about using it for netflix or anything like that. Once it gets going, picture quality and audio fidelity are really great, IMO. I got mine on open box deal at Best Buy for well under retail and I do not regret it at all. Features for configuration are numerous, and unlike the sony, Dolby Vision is enabled by default (i believe you need to enable DV on the sony with a button press each time, but I could be wrong).

So it's not like a flickering per say its more of a sudden brightness then back to normal, varies disc to disc and scene to scene. The update fixed a ton of issues for me but these discs in particular act weird.

I actually experienced a similar fix to a different issue.

One of my 820's would fail to read a disk any time it was left in it and was turned back on from either auto shut off or full shut down. I never had an issue anytime I loaded a disk fresh or ejected and closed, it was only when I left it in there and it would fail every time in that scenario.

After installing the 1.66 firmware from overseas, I've never experienced the problem since.

Having tested them yet. I really can't take another disc/replacement problem!
Does this happen to all 5 Halloween discs?

Massive thanks once again to this site that informed me about the update. I hooked my 820 up to ethernet and am currently installing the new update.

The only issue I recall was on Knives Out, and I also heard people mention Midway was a common problem disc (but I haven't tested myself).

Anyone been able to confirm if this new update fixes the DV issue for either/both of those discs on the 820?

I am having the same problem after the update. It will be bright and than dim down. Two movies so far the new Halloween 3 4k and Halloween 4 4k. If i turn off DV in the player settings it stops doing it.
