Hello. I just bought the ub-9000 player and a 77" lg oled g1 tv and I am having issues. I am running twin hdmi outs from the player to my tv and processor. The issue I am having is that I am not getting HDR playback when I play my 4K blurays through this new player. The 2 Hdmi cables I am running from the player to the tv and processor are audio quest pearl 2.1 with 48gbps speed. I keep getting the message "Dynamic Range Conversion Output" while playing a 4K bluray. I have tried adjusting a bunch of things in the video settings for the tv and the player, but I can't get it to work. Please help guys! Thanks!

It's either 2 things. The output resolution is not set to Auto or 4K. So make sure you do that. The other issue could be that your HDMI 2 Audio Port is set to Auto Video/Audio. It needs to be set to audio only so that way you get full 4K output through the HDMI 1 Audio/Video Port. Otherwise, it will just output to 1080p.

I think it was on for a minute or two when it started playing the content and I just didn't notice it for some reason due to everything going on. But the only way to take it off was to hit the Status button on the remote and cycle through it. It was a disc with TV show episodes...So after I watched the first one, I re-started the disc playback for the heck of it and loaded up another episode. There was no problem this time...but when I went back to the main menu afterward, the status message popped up and again refused to go away until I hit the Status button a couple of times.

Any ideas why this is happening? I watched a 4K disc on Friday night and another last night, plus a DVD before the Blu-ray tonight and there was no problem up until that Blu-ray disc.

Troubleshoot what you are going told but recently the C1 and G1 have some firmware issues that stops.it from playing HDR. Check HDTV Vincent as he's cov red this

Anybody have a link that can give a general rundown of what settings to use when pairing the UB820 with a C7 (or similar)?

Yeah I guess it was a dumb question. I had assumed that wasn't a general video based on the description. Usually "settings you missed" are ones buried deep in the nitty gritty. Watched it and it's at least got me started.

Nah, I’m not saying it’s a dumb question, I just want to know what I missed creating that video. Just for me to try to be better next time.

I assume they are not the correct settings for a Full HD 1080p Pioneer KURO which I currently have???

Thank you again!

I don't even have one yet (it's on the way) but I'll be sure to post when I do and if anything seems like it needs adjusting.

Just set it to oled. you decide if you want to use the TV’s dynamic contrast on low or not. I like it on low. That is the setting for dynamic tonemapping on hdr10 content. All the newer oleds have it as a separate selection.

You can plug everything into the Yamaha, or just run the audio to it. Try Auto for the Panasonic's settings, but post if you run into problems. Make sure you've enabled the TV's and AVR's enhanced HDMI setting to enable HDMI 2.0.

Dunno if it's considered uncouth to just post what basically amounts as a recommendation here, but I'm having trouble following this thread. Is the Panasonic UB820 still considered a good buy? I've got LG A1 OLED and I think my understanding is this is one of the best (at this price point) for getting Dolby Vision, but some of the stuff about the firmware being bad for the Dolby Vision has scared me a bit. Is the fact there has been an update since then encouraging? Is there a better 4k blu-ray player to get at this price point? I've heard some reviews saying that the HDR optimizer is especially good on low NITS displays (mine).

There really is no other real viable option even though it's anybody's guess if firmware 1.69 will be one of the last patches from Panasonic for their players.

The recent (and much needed) firmware update has corrected a slew of problems with the Dolby Vision. We can't say for sure what will happen with DV down the road, but as of right this second the 820 is one of the very best players out there.
