Does Value Electronics have a Black Friday sale on the Panasonic 820 this year? I believe they had a sale last year for them.

Nothing yet. However, it's usually Panasonic or any manufacturer for that matter, who sets the conditions for when a sale discount will occur (that used to be illegal and called price fixing, but nowadays that rule is hardly followed) unless there is some special dealer compact with a top retailer that gives them some latitude others in their sales network do not get.

Is the fact there has been an update since then encouraging? Is there a better 4k blu-ray player to get at this price point? I've heard some reviews saying that the HDR optimizer is especially good on low NITS displays (mine).
GO for it without any further questions. One of the best

OK thanks everyone! I was thinking of just waiting to see if there's anything black friday/cyber monday for these (cheapest I see right now is £299 and I notice they've been cheaper on amazon in the past). Then I'm gonna get one and whack on Bird with the Crystal Plumage.

820's bundled remote is useless though. It is so easy to hit Netflix button accidentally when you navigate the menus . I recently bought official Panasonic replacement recommended here, the one with model number ending ...131. Very nice button feel, backlighting and almost all the buttons of the original one are there, the rest you can access with one or two more cliks.

Yep I've got like three or four of them, the pathetic OG remote for the 820 is still sealed and in the box up in the loft somewhere.

Usually leading to the words "There goes another ****ing minute..." when you haven't got it connected to a modem in any way.

Having the RETURN button at the 4:30 position on the D-Pad is a crime against technology.

With the chip shortage problem in full swing, it’s a real toss up if high end electronics will have sale pricing. It might happen, but might not.
This holiday season isn’t shaping up to be like other recent ones.

Yes, this. Absolutely super maddening experience each time it happened.

Wait, what? Does this mean I'm not able to purchase new PS5 with hefty discount this BF?

Apologies, as I know this has been discussed/linked previously, but where is the best place to pickup the replacement remote?

I'm so tired of accidentally hitting that damn Netflix button.

You guys must all have huge thumbs. I never accidentally hit the Netflix button once.

Is there anyway to setup a price notification on this player? Any websites you guys know of?

I bought it on Amazon last week and when I paid they offered me that I could pay it in 5 installments of $ 92 each. With a charge to the normal card of use

If you look at your manual for your player, you'll get the code for the remote for your region (I think I've posted them in the past). Then search eBay. The remotes for the 9000 are more expensive generally and they have the HDR button, but if you don't mind a few extra steps you can get 900 remotes for slightly cheaper.

I think I paid around £20 for my two 900 remotes and they were both official Panasonic replacements.

I just finished rebuilding my home theater.
I have to following:
Audio Receiver:
sony str-dh590
Television:
tcl 55s515
4kUHD player:
Panasonic ub820

I know, it isn't the greatest set-up, but it's what I can currently afford.
Anyway, I am having issues with setting this up properly.
Originally, I had the Panny in the Media Box HDMI slot and my audio synch was off.
I can't find the delay option in either the player or receiver
So I sawpped the player to the BD/DVD HDMI port and now I have no audio at all.

I'm truly at a loss trying to figure this out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*Edit, found the audio delay, it's in the Home Menu Wich is freaking ret... dumb...
It would be accessible from watching the video so it can be adjusted "live!"

Still no audio though...

Plug an HDMI cable into Video/Audio HDMI Port and plug that into your TV. Set that Port to Auto. Then plug another HDMI Cable to the Audio HDMI Port to your receiver and then make sure that Port is set to Audio Only.

Every once in awhile if you are watching through your TV, the audio will drop out. You just need to hit the audio button once to shift it to another track, then shift it back to the original track and the audio will be playing again!

Thanks. I have audio again. That's the way I have it set up.
Shifted tracks like you said, it brought it back.

I still have a delay though. Not as bad, it's set to 70 on the player.

Best Buy is having a sale on this Panasonic low end 4K player DP-UB150-K

Thought I would post in this thread to see if anyone had any opinions on it. It's $100 and that's all I want to spend.

thanks

It doesn't have Dolby Vision and I don't think it has the Optimizer, but it has two HDMI outputs and costs $100, which is all you want to spend ...

The build quality of the lower-end players is hit and miss, but for that price the UB150 is probably the best you'll get.
