Great, thanks. I thought so, but I saw a video about the player and they stated that 4:2:0 was the director's intent and to stick to it. Sorry for the newb question, I'm new to the 4K game and I just upgraded to this player today.

Does anyone know an alternate source for UB9000 region free firmware?
Region Freedom banned my MAC address from applying because I didn't send them a wide enough angle shot of my back panel. |

But is there a difference in performance?

The difference in performance I see is that it seems to have a better disc drive. There were 2-3 discs my 820 had trouble with that the 9000 plowed through without a hitch.
It also operates quieter than the 820, in my experience. The 820 was certainly not loud, but in quiet scenes (on Dolby Vision discs especially), I could hear it spinning. With the 9000, I almost never notice it during playback. |

Before the most recent firmware update, I had a few UHDs that would consistently hiccup on my 820. Dunkirk, Pacific Rim, and the bike chase scene around 1hr04min mark in The Last Crusade would glitch up a bit.
Watched all three of those in the last couple of weeks (currently watching Indy), and all 3 have been glitch free. Don’t know what was done in that update, but it’s definitely had noticeable improvements for me. |

Hi, @sapiendut. May I ask how to look at or access your recommended setup video? I have the Panny UB9000 MKII and Sony XBR48A9S OLED. My HDMI cable is WW Silver Sphere. So far, things look great, I got the Panny firmware upgrade installed, have Dolby Vision, and I have setting at 4:4:4.

Best Buy has the 820 for $399.98 this week. I'm very tempted to upgrade my UHD player.
![]() If Dolby Vision wasn't important to me, I'd be all over the 420 for $149.99. Last edited by jabba359; 12-19-2021 at 07:52 AM. |

And Best Buy chat actually came through for me. It's been exactly 30 days since I bought my (second) player and they're refunding me the difference.
