True, but BR forum members want the option of turning off the front panel display.
It's just what it is for a bunch of us. We love our movies in the dark no matter where the BR player sits; behind closed doors or under the TV. |

Reavon was mentioned but not named in an earlier post, and there are players from Zidoo and Zappiti that are basically the same as normal UHD BD players, except they have no optical drives. They only stream from hard drives in the player or local network storage.

I recently purchased an UB9000 MK2/P1K and it's still in production to my knowledge it's only been made since June of 2021.
I read something about a fire that caused them to relocate production and resulted in some internal components being upgraded. I think that applies mostly to the analog audio output though so I'm guessing for many users it's not an issue. I'm on a mission to watch all of my UHD discs on it now that I've upgraded my HT. It's outside of the theater so I don't know how dim I have set the display. Last edited by bhampton; 04-25-2022 at 11:53 AM. |

I just received my DP-UB820 (region modded for BD) and I'm really happy with it. Silent and reasonably fast. Nice remote and good software.
PQ seem great and easy to change regions. All in all, best player I've had. Haven't tried the high ends, but this is really nice. |

A dark room is best for movie watching, bravo. Mine is not pitch black all the time, but anyway it's fine. And one BR player has a very bright power button; I don't use electrical tape but a small round like this ... ● https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD0.../dp/B009WSN8PK |

I absolutely advise against this purchase. It virtually has no DTS codec support at all given that this model was built around streaming and not discs of any kind. If you want decent immersive surround, you really have to invest in a receiver or pre-amp/amp combo and proper speakers/subs. Then take the time educating yourself in the correct 3D audio installation and layout techniques for your speakers/subs. You also want at least four overheads and as a bonus Front Wides if your room and budget allow for them.

Upgraded to a UB9000P1K after 14 months of using the UB820 and its honestly its of a bit of an improvement build wise as expected. Production still seems to be largely based in Czech Republic at least with the machine I have. Can confirm its a dual ESS DAC based player (9036 for the balanced and unbalanced outputs and 9028 for the 7.1 out). The main and amp boards seem totally different compared to the original 9000 (probably better designed with the ESS DACs in mind and/or ironing out slight kinks) but ODD and PSU seems largely the same. Is generally a much quieter player overall vs the 820 especially in regards to the fan despite it being smaller in size (Nidec in the P1K vs NMB in the 820). A small detail I noticed is the disc tray seems to have a coating on it vs the bare textured plastic on the 820. Gonna try it out later this weekend but I gotta say its looking really good!

• https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=8562 * The ES9038Q2M and the ES9026PRO 9036 & 9028 is a typo (9036 doesn't exist, and 9028 does exist but Robert was told by Panasonic that it was the 9026PRO). Anyway no big deal unless you're a hard-core number data sucker (numbers are important, all numbers). And for data fun ... • https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=8567 Last edited by LordoftheRings; 04-28-2022 at 05:43 AM. Reason: Typo |
