This is what I already did at first but didn't succeed to play this part without hiccups and pixelation unless you skip the chapter. Thank you

I wouldn't say that. Recently, I noticed something I never saw before with Dolby Vision vs. HDR10 on my LG C9.

Normally, there isn't much of a difference between the DV vs. HDR10. However, I recently took a peek at Spider-Man: No Way Home and discovered the Dolby Vision version of the film had a bit more saturation to the picture than the HDR10 version. Mind you I have Dynamic Tone Mapping on for HDR10, but even then it still seemed a bit more duller than the Dolby Vision version.

I know I have all of my settings correct on my Panasonic 820 for HDR Content. I do know the HDR Optimizer took the Maximum Light Level from 10,000 nits that's on the disc to 1,000 nits output and the MAX FALL went from 867 nits on the disc to 800 nits. It's weird because I have it on Super Luminance (1,500 nits) yet the Optimizer is reading the Mastering Display.

So, those are issues I am now running into. The Dolby Vision version seems a lot better than the HDR10 version. Downside is that I have an LG TV, which at a certain point, the ASBL setting will kick in in Dark Scenes in Dolby Vision and dim the screen even further. Something LG needs to fix. I like using HDR10 for most things but it seems Dolby Vision can resolve some issues on some discs, like Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The ribbon cables either just pull out through gentle force or they have a little clasp that you have to lift that holds them in place.

Not sure about the drive I would assume that it comes out entirely after you remove the 4 screws, then you can take the lid off.

The Missus and I watched The Suicide Squad just last week, and it played through fine on the 820.

Just in case you mean the 1st Suicide Squad, I've watched my Italian copy of it (the Missus declines another viewing of this one...) and it also played through as it should.

Thanks. Was unaware of the 900. Ironic but arguably telling that the disc plays better on the six year-old machine and not the newer (more expensive) one.

My player keeps having issues recognizing 4K discs. Never an issue with bd. I think it's on the last verse by now. The first years there was not one disc which had issues and now the very same discs won't read. Also noticed it's much louder when reading discs than before. Finally got tired and ordered a new one on a sale. If that breaks I'll just use my PS5 in the future. Seems to be far reliable player anyway.

Yay to the new one.

My 420 started going bad. It did have beer spilled on it while it was in storage but that didn't really kill it. I think it just started going bad.

My new one UB9000 better take a long time to get that way. I'm being more careful about checking discs in the new player. It's still pretty fresh.

I watched 13 Hours on the 820 the other day - first watch was fine on my old 420 a while ago, this was the 2nd watch, and it threw a glitchy fit about an hour into it. Stopped the player, started it up again and got to the right bit, and it played fine after that. Just unpredictable glitches on my 820.

Top film btw, never really hear much about it (should really have given it a rewatch in DV sooner).

Should add this player is very sensitive to dirty discs including any discs with that residue from the plastic cases.

Weird. I've watched a hell of a lot of discs on the 820 and have never had a non-firmware-related playback error from a disc that wasn't physically damaged. The only times it's glitched was with a 2nd hand UHD that had a mahoosive scratch on it, the other was a disc with a literal dent it that I decided to try anyway (hell of it is, it played it betterer than the OPPO did!).

I've already watched this disc and had no problems....

last issue I had on my 820 was IN THE LINE OF FIRE which glitched and froze all over the place... tried cleaning to no avail...

Same here. 2 different 820's, one of which was bought lightly used, and at least 150 discs played on both. I've still yet to see an issue.

*Knocks wood*

I've had more problems with blu-ray's on my Oppo 93 in my life than my 4k discs, granted there is a massive difference in sample size.

Thank you for the reply. Already watched a tons of disc's on my UB820 NO glitches at all even after suicide squad I watched director's cut justice league no problem at all. It does work on my other player suicide squad.. I will test it on my Sony 4k player if it happens around the mark mentioned here I guess my phisical disc is the problem.
Thank you all will get back to you as soon as possible

Yep, same. I had an OPPO 95 which wasn’t the most reliable spinner I’ve ever had and the 203 had issues with glitching on the second layer change of triple layer discs. Since OPPO replaced the drive in the 203 (though for all I know they could’ve just reloaded the factory calibration of the drive) even that’s been good as gold though with just one brief glitch in the last four years of playback.

Received a reply.

$204.30 for an 820 might make a new deck a better option when one factors in shipping.

But $326 for a 9000 is delicious.

Jeebus. If I was offered one for 300 quid I'd bite their hand off!

Seems fair, but I would assume these are refurb units and they would have to have your unit in hand - ie. you can’t go to them with a busted 820 and walk out with a 9000 for $326.

Default Not an accurate assumption. ;)

As of that Panny outlet's latest response this morning, new 820s are available but not new 9000s. One might conclude from that that at one time they were indeed shipping new 9000s. (So tempting to just get a 9000 as that deck appears to now be "unavailable" from Panny in a way the 820 is not.)

The operative issue appears to be whether your deck is under warranty or not. If it is not and you wish to pay for a replacement, my understanding is that you very well could tender an 820 and pay for a 9000. (But yes of course, you need to send a deck to them.)

Got my replacement UB820 today and it's brand new with the last firmware installed. My previous one lasted 4 years. Hopefully this one a bit longer.
