*I've read through and searched as much as I can in this thread so please forgive me if what I'm asking is repeating what's already been answered.*
What's the general consensus about which player is better? UB820 or UB9000? The 9000 seems to be twice the price of the 820, is it really worth it? Which player is better for playing DVDs? I've various tv shows that'll never get upgraded to HD and would still like to enjoy them but all upscaling so far has been a mess. My current TV (LG75UM7000PLA) doesn't support Dolby Vision, will it still be okay playing from these players? Thanks for any help! |

On another note, just discovered no zoom option for non-anamorphic DVDs (was going to check out True Lies). But there are only a couple of those I care about so no biggie. |

The ub9000 is also quieter - might matter to some people. It also has a better remote, but that can be bought separately if desired.

I don't know what that could be. I have all three Oppo players hooked up. Same player settings, same custom picture mode on display as the 9000. I've read about the jaggies on the Panny but I'm not getting them. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Z8H is also doing some of the upscaling, since the player can only upscale to 4K.

27" S-Video capable CRT with a Late generation s-Video DVD player like the Toshiba SD-2800. Seriously, nothing else comes remotely close. You want the best, there it is.

Today projecting 4K at 120 inches thinking of going to 135 inches. Can’t even fathom trying to watch DVD at that size. I do wholeheartedly agree for formats to look their best one is a lot better off to seek out equipment it was designed to be played on. DVD was designed to be played back on analog CRT displays and for playback one is better off to seek out the better players from that generation of CE products.
