Without wanting to be that guy all of the time (eh, who am I kidding?) those other players must be fookin diabolical at spinning DVDs if the 9000 is such an improvement.

You're probably right. What do I know? Just the Oppo 83, 93 ,203 and a couple of HD DVD players. Likely got them all set up wrong on the different inputs. But the DVD's on the other players look like I would expect them to look.

LOL. All the Oppos are demonstrably better DVD players than Panasonic’s overpriced mess. You’re allowed to like what’s factually inferior, of course.

Since the player is only three months old it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty. Just box it up and return it to get it repaired or get a brand new replacement. I wouldn't do anything to it because this is what your warranty is for.

It sounds like something has slipped or broken, if it was an older player it might need lubricating, but as slimdude posted, if it's a few months old I'd take it back.

So I have the 820 and I just bought a TCL R655. With some discs when I play a Dolby Vision disc the Menus are blacked out. Reservoir Dogs and Jurassic World Dominion to name 2. Also sometimes the screen will go black for 2-3 seconds and come back. I exchanged the tv and the same thing is happening. I hooked the player up to my crappy bedroom tv and Dolby Vision worked fine. What is going on?

Is HDMI Mode set to Auto? Try HDMI 3 or 4 as they're rated 2.0, I don't think it's a bandwidth issue, but TCLs have had some quirks in the past.

My UB9000 is getting worse with the pixelation issue. Two Elf 4Ks in row, pixelating. One on chapter 8 and the other on chapter 9. It's always BD-66 discs, no issues with Blu-rays or BD-100 discs. It's also always between the 30 - 60 minute mark. All the discs play fine in my Oppo 203.

Some folks suggested washing the discs withs dish detergent. Won't that leave water residue, even after drying them. I would be very interested in how folks wash the discs with dish detergent. Please post the steps and I will try it on one of the Elf 4K discs I own.

Auto and yes I tried input 3, still the same issue. I just don't understand.

I watched Elf 4K on my UB9000 with no issues. It's odd with these Panasonic UHD players how one user has an issue with a disc and another user doesn't.

Thank you for the feedback.

Thankfully I purchased the extended warranty with Best Buy, so I have three years left on the warranty, the first year is with Panasonic which has expired.

I am going to wait until after the holiday rush, probably February, to bring it into Best Buy for service.

Every WB Christmas title I have played thus far has had issues. I have two left, Polar Express tonight and Christmas Story on Christmas Day. All Christmas WB titles and all BD-66, so strange.

Hopefully someone can post the cleaning steps with dish soap. I am concerned about water residue, using that method.

If you’re concerned about residue use a soft micro fiber cloth and use a spray bottle filled with distilled water to mist the surface of the disc. Then gently wipe it off from the center to the edge. Nothing too aggressive. It’s usually just a few areas that got dirty during packaging like a fingerprint or a drop of something that dried onto the surface.

I generally run the discs under warm water, dab a bit of dish soap on my fingers and wipe the surface. I then rinse the soap off. You can use tissue for excess water or just place them on paper towels and leave them dry.

I sometimes rinse one of those little cloths for cleaning spectacles at the same time and use that to wipe the discs after it dries. It makes sure there's no grease on the cloth.

Have you tried the cable from the other TV?

This proves that the problem is not the blu-ray player. If it was me, I would return the second tv and get a different brand that's within your budget because, after having two defected TCL tv's is a red flag. Try a Vizio, they seem to be good budget tvs.

As a test, disconnect one of the HDMI cables from another component, and connect it to the tv and blu-ray player to see if it rectify the issue and if not, the new cable that you've ordered is not going to fix the problem. You can try to do a factory reset. It's not going to hurt it.
