The 131 is a UB900 remote not for the UB9000 and doesn't have the HDR button. Just use your original remote instead. The knock-off 172 remotes are generally ok but if you want the real thing then buy directly from Panasonic as they are cheaper than ebay etc.
To check if the HDR optimizer is on/off you can press the option button while playing a HDR disc and go to picture settings. I don't think you can change the standard/bright room settings without the correct HDR settings button Last edited by ronand; 12-24-2022 at 12:31 PM. |

I've suggested the idea of getting another brand prior because it seems like the TCL is not working out for you. The tv is problematic already, and it's still brand new. Whatever the source of the issue with the Dolby Vision, something else might go wrong with it, even with the warranty. A brand new tv shouldn't have anything wrong with it at all, whether if it's a firmware issue, or a bad motherboard. Follow your instinct! If you're wondering about getting a Hisense then go for it, if you don't want a Vizio.

No, what the HDR Optimizer setting is used for is to get close to the max nits that the TV can properly tone map without getting blown out highlights. I have tested things out quite a lot and have discovered the LG C9 tone maps HDR Content above the 1,000 nit OLED Setting. This is why I have it set at Super High Luminance. That OLED Setting was programed back in 2017 so that setting, at least in my eyes, is a little out dated now. Most OLEDs do quite well tone mapping content well above 1,000 nits. It's when you get into the crazy HDR gradings, like Sony Light Canon movies that the HDR Optimizer comes in handy. Of course now Sony is re-releasing a lot of their movies in Dolby Vision, which takes care of the problem. My issue is that I like using the Dynamic Tone Mapping setting on my LG C9 (because I like a dynamic picture like Dolby Vision than a static one) and I get a blown out/ overly bright picture from time to time. I have been experimenting with changing the Dynamic Range Adjustment Slider down in the Panasonic 820's HDR Menu and it seems to correct the issue. But I'm wanting to know if that is ruining the picture or am I helping the picture out by using the slider? Last edited by PUsokrJosh305; 12-24-2022 at 02:01 PM. |

I have a question, I think I have everything set up correctly but when I look at the information screen the right side is blank unlike this picture which has information on both sides. I have a 820 and Sony A9S OLED and used the new Labyrinth DV disc to test it.

Ok, I’m trying to set my player and I ran into this:
DA378616-66B3-45FE-9433-172E2824EBCB.jpg I bought these cables. Are they not good enough? 6C4C86ED-3CCF-4A26-89DC-A2C0CF16CF3D.jpg Or is there some other problem? |

It's available on the European Panasonic website: https://store.eu.panasonic.com/sp_fr...aya000172.html (sorry, this is the French one, there's no English page apparently).
Mine is on the way, got shipped on the 21st so it'll probably be here next week (it shipped from Germany apparently). If you're not in Europe then I'm not sure. |

I had that problem once, when I set the player up at a friends house. The problem there wasn't the HDMI-Cable. It was his TV. It's HDMI-Inputs weren't in 4K/UHD mode yet. I had to set them up in the TVs menu for that first, after that it worked. Maybe that's the problem you're having as well.

Hmmm…well that was odd.
I started by routing the player through my sound bar (that’s what the sound bar instructions direct) and the TV didn’t detect the player. So then I connected the player directly to the TV and that’s when I got the “can’t find a 4K connection” error. Shut it down as my wife wanted to watch Netflix and when I came back a couple hours later I plugged the player into the sound bar again (wanted to try one more time before switching out the premium cables with the regular cables the devices came with) TV detected the player, was able to get through the entire set up, and now I’m ready to go. Weird. |

There's nothing wrong with that remote but it is missing several useful buttons such as the -10/+60 seconds skip as well as the hdr buttons. Any Panasonic BR remote will operate the basic functions. But it would make more sense to get the 172 remote.

Oh, I guess that isn't the one I thought it was. Mine has those skip buttons, a Panasonic logo and feels as real as any other remote I have. There's a middle ground between cheap crap and full-price, directly from Panasonic here. I paid less than $30 including shipping and taxes.
