Kudos to the chap working on it, and whilst I'm not having a go at the requests the thread is full of folks asking for a laundry list of changes/fixes! Us lot never change.

No change in model nomenclature but production models feature a distinct SOC? DefCon Green.

A member over on the AV forums has reverse engineered the regionfreedom mod (as that guy disappeared into thin air) and is planning on releasing it for free. He has it working on an 820, and is trying to figure out what other models he can get it working with, and someone has volunteered to be the guinea pig for testing a mod on a 9000. Sounds like the regionfreedom method of requiring the MAC address was a way to restrict the mod to your unit rather than anything essential to its functioning so that can be worked around to make it a mod anyone can install.
Still questions about whether it can be applied to new updates as they're released but it sounds like everyone can get up to the newest* current firmware, which is great for me as I'm stuck a few revisions back.

Just got my 9000 a few weeks ago. Will check if it has the 1.70 FW.

If true, it would be interesting to see what improvements firmware 1.70 does to the 820/9000 compared to 1.69.

Looks legit, out of stock thou.

No problem for me.

Even with the remote, a region modded 9000 would be much more expensive for me to import;

Panasonic 9000:
220-Electronics - 1389 USD
Bombay Electronics - 1349 USD

TPS - 702 GBP (876 USD)
Panasonic 9000 Genuine US Remote - 169 USD

Totals to 1045 USD for me, with the US remote, so it's all good.
Here's a listing I saw today on eBay. I hope it helps.

It’s missing the button in question.

It’s the one I have, though. Excellent remote.

Just curious, which part number is the one that you have?

I assume the one being referenced is the HDR button but interestingly, when I look at the manual PDFs which I mention in a previous post, they all appear to show the button there.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=11910

I suspect the manual PDF is not quite correct for this particular button but believe other button differences are correct.

Yes, as I understand it, that's the one our Swedish friend wants.

Mine is the N2QAYA000128. That was very hard to read on the back of the remote A quick search also gives results that look different. It seems to be the remote that came with the DMP-UB900EGK UHD player, which was Panasonic's first.

Yes, verified by finding the manual for it which has this exact part number.

https://www.panasonic.com/content/da.../DMP-UB900.pdf

Just curious, what is the manufacturing date of your UB9000? Possibly could contact Panasonic and let them know that the remote which came with it is not the correct one.

I have a UB824, which is the German 820. I purchased the N2QAYA000128 on eBay. It was somewhat difficult to find one that was original and had those skip buttons.

You are looking for the manual skip buttons (-10s and +60s).

Panasonic authorized part dealers should be able to obtain them (assuming local to your country).

I wondering if the ones on Ebay are genuine since they just show stock pictures which I am skeptical without an actual photo.

And the one I have has those

Mine is definitely an original. It was more expensive than the cheapest, has Panasonic printed at the bottom and in no way feels cheap. The remote is heavy and the buttons are excellent.

It's coming up on 2 weeks owning the 820. Another observation (which isn't a revelation or anything) is that it's very noisy when booting up, but quiet once playing content. I like that it reacts almost instantly to when you push a button on the remote as No delay in opening or closing the tray like the Sony had. It's an outstanding player, everything I've thrown at it plays flawlessly and it really does do a good job of upscaling too. Great Player!

I have two remotes for the 900 one with the Manual Skip buttons and the other without, ones for the US player the other Canadian.

I don't really miss the HDR button as I use the slider in the picture settings.

Sounds like something I can consider to purchase.

I have the US model of the 9000 control since I bought the player in US, but may consider the Canadian version if need.

I just checked my 9000. I'm on FW 1.69, even thou the machine is very recent.

Thanks for all the input on the remote fellas. I bought a original US one, and also a original without the HDR button as a spare.

Before 1.69 came out the new 820s were coming out with a newer firmware than what was posted. I downloaded the Chinese 1.66 I think it was. That was higher than what was coming out on the newer players. This is not something new. It goes with past behavior.
