This info should be correct:

The model number will change from DP-UB9000 to DP-UB9000P1K. We do not have a date for the UB9000P1K, but I expect it to be later summer at earliest.
Imagine my disappointment for discovering that my unit is the older design. The ESS chip performs (marginally) better, amirm of ASR even tested the two versions

I talked about it on this forum I believe and someone had the same problem with their TCL. I think sometimes the Panasonic Dolby Vision just has this glitch and good luck getting it fixed. Either get another tv or player or learn to live with it. The good news is your pop up menu is still working so you can make any changes with that. My pop up menu was blacked out as well so at least you have that.
Looks like the new update has fixed it. Yes!

Just upgrade my Euro machine to 1.76. Failed first time for some reason, but worked on the second. Takes about 5-10 minutes.

Posting this in case anyone else has had a failure and been discouraged and not tried again.

You whose UB9000s are discovering the new firmware automatically - do you have the P1K model or the original one? Because my gut says that this firmware is meant for the new one alone.

Do you suppose they will add 1.76 to their server in a few days, so you can download it directly into the various machines?

I would imagine the only real reason for the update is a refresh on the disc license keys. It would be great if they could fix their Dolby Vision problems as laid out by Stacey Spears and update the DV version as created by Dolby Labs, but I don't know if anything can be done in that regard without a physical DV chip swap.

Did you download to a usb device or direct to player via ethernet?

I immediately checked the same exact thing. Since I also had issue with the disc on the PS5, it seems to be an actual disc issue.

Disney did reach back out to me for additional information. I will report in the Nightmare Before Christmas thread if I hear anything substantial.

It hasn't been confirmed yet but given the timing of the release, many suspect it is to fix a bug allowing root access to the device which allows for region free patching and adding 9000 series functionality to the UB820 and UB420.

Yes, upgrading for the license keys. I too would like to see any Dolby Vision issues fixed.

However, as far as any updates created by Dolby Labs that would be nice but unless disc manufacturers start to utilize the newer version of DV onto the UHD Blu-ray discs, I don't think that it will make that much of a difference if at all.

My unit was never region-free by default or via unofficial patch, but it seems the stop —> Top Menu cheat maneuver still works for whatever discs that have worked before.

What firmware and version number were you running? Rattlebyte or RegionFreedom?

I have no idea. Both ran with version 1.69. I purchased them region free from https://www.bluraymods.it/
I just had to press "1" or "2" on the remote and the player would directly boot up with region A or B.
