lol wtf is Veira Cast, funny it turned into a Netflix button, at least I don't have to see the Disney+ text like on the Sony remote
Yep and the Panny doesn't vibrate like the Sony, at least not in my cabinet. I had to install new feet on the Sony just to shut it up. Certain MOD discs or Sony Blu rays would still make that player shake after awhile. |

Well. All the discs I’ve ever had issues with including nightmare before Christmas freezing and glitching just plays pretty perfectly on this player. Absolutely no issues to note yet on this compared to my x700

LOL. I had to replace those Rocketfish cables at my client’s place just last month as they can’t handle 17.8 gbps constant bitrate. Replacing all 5 of those cables with other brand suddenly solved my client’s hdmi hdr handshake issues. His system has been stable now for the whole month thus far.

And...can HDMI cables ever affect eArc issues? Because I've wanted to throw my remote at the TV for how many times everything goes haywire due to it. It will switch from TV to Blu-ray no matter what I do. Frustrating AF. |

Try Audioquest, that's the brand I use.

I ended up using PixelGen design. Expensive but never failed on me (note: I’m not a reseller, my clients are free to buy anything anywhere, I only consult, design and calibrate). And yes, many HDMI cables, especially active and optical HDMI usually don’t do ARC/eARC faithfully. Yes, it can mess up ARC/eARC communications.
Cheap cables can work, but quality control is always a question mark. It’s annoying that every time I use cheap cables it’s always a gamble. 90% will work. But when you get the 10% that doesn’t work, it makes me pulling my hair (hence the reason I’m balding) |

There are different versions of Rocketfish cables. There are crappy ones and then there are the 8K ones. I haven't had any problems with them, but mostly I use Audioquest high-end cables. I think I even have a Thunderbird for eARC.
And one cable I forgot to mention is a Monster Cable I bought over at Circuit City back in the day. It even works with 4K. Last edited by cupboy; 11-20-2023 at 09:46 PM. |

ARC has sucked since day one and continues to suck, I use it as sparingly as possible and always have. Pretty much only my Xbox 360/PLEX/TV apps use it and LG has the worst support for it with no DTS

I do have to use it for TV broadcasts. No way around it with the TV set I have. And I have to use it with the Apple TV device too. No audio only HDMI output on that thing. Apple needs to upgrade that. Quote:
I have only one of them. I needed an 8 ft. cable in a hurry. The Audioquest cables were just a bit short being 2 meters. Last edited by cupboy; 11-20-2023 at 10:18 PM. |

Neither do I. There are plenty of affordable, branded cables built to spec with manufacturer lifetime warranties that can be bought online.

All my HDMi cables are monoprice, from 2009, 2012 and a batch from a couple years ago, they all work for anything I throw at them. I even have my pre-2005 HDMI cables in a bag somewhere, haven't bothered using those I think they are only 5gb cables. Anything that's 10gb will do UHD. Really one of my favorite cables since they put ferrite cores on each end. I also have an 8k cable from Crutchfield when I bought my new amp. I'm sure only the recent ones work for 4k/120hz, but all that older ones I've tried do 1080p/120hz and 1440p/120hz. When ARC wants to suck I get dropouts every so often, sometimes LG will do a webOS update and it will break it (lol) until the next time they do an update, it's really tiresome.

use these. I had some issues with DV not wanting to display due to limited bandwidth cables and these are kind of the go to one from AVS https://www.amazon.com/Zeskit-48Gbps...41&sr=8-1&th=1 |

yup, for some reason the sony had a lot of disc vibration noise while spinning. I'd get some that were noticeable in low volume levels from the sound on my cabinet. the Panny seems to have fixed that at least lol

This is the eARC that I use
It fixed all the problems and got DolbyVision to work with the Apple TV box. I tried a Vodka before going with the Thunderbird. The Vodka was a no-go. |

Interesting! That explains everything. I guess the Apple TV is the ultimate test device.
