the Rocketfish's and the Zeskits are known to run the full bandwidth. I hesitate on the Rocketfish as they're a bit over priced for what they are though. SVS makes a really nice HDMI cable that passes full bandwidth as well. |

Got a UB820 this week from Amazon, had the glitching issue people were complaining about. Returned it, picked up one from Best Buy. Put in Blade Runner on 4K and this happens:
https://imgur.com/a/9pbzG4H For the life of me, I cannot figure out what is causing all that white noise. Tested on a different player and no issues. I have that same Rocketfish cable mentioned above, tested a different cable. Same issue. I've restored to factory settings, tried changing my TV's settings, all to no avail. Anyone have any ideas or see this before? |

I've thought about getiing an Apple TV to stream surround music from Aplle Music, but I don't want to have to go through my TV. I don't have Atmos, so I use optical from my TV for cable/internal apps audio, which would work fine for getting 5.1 surround from ATV. But I don't want to have to leave my TV on- even if it does have a way to turn off the picture. |

Since we're talking hardware and cables, can anyone recommend an 4 port-HDMI switch that can do 4K/120hz, Dolby Vision+Atmos, VRR/ALLM/ARC that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
I got this one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Switch-Swit.../dp/B09QRZT92N) from Amazon but it keeps losing the signal for a few seconds every time I switch my source (1080p/2160p). And I have brand new HDMI 2.1 cables. Thanks! |

HDMI switches are garbage for all that stuff from my experience, even expensive amps can't always do it all right. For something like the Xbox Series X I go straight to the 2.1 HDMI on my LG OLED, skipping an amp/switch step is just the best play.

I watched Oppenheimer and Barbie on the 820 today, and with the HDR optimizer, it was the type of experience that makes me glad I've invested so much in this hobby, niche as it has become. Despite the headaches, lightning sales, and problematic releases, I still feel joy watching movies with increasing quality from the comfort of my home. As long as the positives outweigh the negatives, I'll still gladly keep going, and using the boards to keep informed, and ride the fine line between "sky is falling" botch jobs and "so perfect I could die happy today" releases (and buy either for the right price).

The thing is I'm using the Sony HT-A9 and all HDMI traffic needs to go through it for audio. I only found the HDMI switch solution for this. I'm open to suggestions if I can do it differently though.

The Sony HT-A9 supports eARC. If your TV also supports it, then you don't need to have everything connected through the soundbar. Just use eARC for audio passthrough.

Is there a reason why the Staus Bar comes up and won't go away on its own? Sometimes when I start a disc it'll be the little square in the corner that says "Ultra HD Blu-ray - Play - 4k" but it will stay up unless I cycle the Status button.

There is an option in settings to turn display status messages off. I have them off personally I know some people like it but I just want the thing to play with no status messages. Just press the status button on your remote and it should go away.

It's a firmware glitch. It's supposed to go away after a few seconds, but sometimes it gets stuck. When it happens, just hit the Status button to cancel it and you're good to go.
