Hopefully we'll get an updated guide. I'm totally confused with the newer stuff, doing the 1.69 patch was okay, but I'm not sure if one has to update to 1.76 before doing the patch, and the instructions in the patcher are beyond me.

I think it's all well and good saying something is simple enough, but unless you understand the instructions it's a non-starter. I will take a closer look over the next few days.

Ofc you need official update to 176, It is obvious. Patcher detects what version you have and uses the appropriate patches.. Patching process is the same (+ optional patches ) instruction you have inside package.

I have Street Fighter and it doesn't work. I've had a very high success rate with the top menu trick but it doesn't work on any of the 88 Films or Third Window discs I have

Are you able to share the manual or where you got it? I’m desperately trying to find a service manual for the UB9000 so I can track some part numbers.

Thanks. I seem to have mixed success when opening the Virtual Machine, but when I did I noticed the Patcher was the older version, and I couldn't work out how to get the new one copied over, eventually I worked out I could download the new Patcher through Lubuntu's Firefox browser and extract the zip file.

Not sure whether to try and update to 1.76 and try one of my players, the 420 would be cheaper to replace if I brick it, but the process was straightforward once it got started.

Mixing ? = problems. If you use vm method most important is post below to read carefully and use the tools contained there.
https://www.avforums.com/threads/let.../post-31906429

If you do not ignore any errors and do not stop the "writing" ahead of time, you cannot brick player.

I can't even get the USB drive mounted in the virtual machine.

You don't say which VM software you are using - I'll assume Oracle as it is free.

In the VM software (once the virtual machine is running) go to the devices menu, then USB and select the USB stick that is connected. Now you should be able to mount it.

Yeah, that's what's not working I've done a little troubleshooting and I don't think it's worth it when my UB824 isn't really my main disc spinner anyway.

It's Oracle's VirtualBox with the prodarek-prepared lubuntu thing inside it on an Intel iMac.

When are inserting the USB drive? I had similar issue, I think I might have tried it before starting the VM and during.

It probably doesn't, but like Naiera, I had issues with the USB drive and the VM. It took me multiple attempts to get it recognised.

Pretty sure it will, but will a replacement UB9000 remote work with a UB420?

It should do, I have two 900 remotes and they work fine.

I got my Panasonic 820 (and LG C2 65") from Best Buy at the beginning of the year, and my Total Tech membership is renewing on Dec. 31 for $180 unless I cancel. Any thoughts on whether it's worth keeping or not?

I haven't had any real problems with my TV or player. There are times when I think certain parts of the panel, particularly the upper left corner, might be a little brighter than other areas of the screen when it's displaying a lighter black/not FULLY dark scene. But I know people say that no panel is perfect, and I doubt it's to the point that a replacement is really worth it (or even allowed/covered).

And there are times when the Panasonic player is a little louder than others, but that's only sometimes. So overall, a year of no problems has me thinking that the Total Tech safety net probably isn't worth $180. What do you guys think?

Aren't they pretty good with replacements when things go wrong? it's relatively cheap to replace your player, but not your OLED.

Without the Total membership, I don't think they'd replace anything. Maybe Panasonic or LG would, if there was a problem that wasn't my fault, within a certain window of time (1st year or so?). I have no experience with returns/replacements, but my impression is that if I let my Total membership cancel, then those options are gone.
