I just purchased a UB9000. I am using it in the following manner with a Sony A80J oled and Denon receiver:
HDMI 1 outputs both audio and video directly to the Oled. HDMI 2 outputs audio only to the Denon. In this configuration, when playing a DTS title, the player seems to be outputting PCM via HDMI 2 and the Denon is displaying this as "Multi In" instead of DTS-HD. All output settings are set to "bitstream". Could it be that the Sony oled does not support DTS? HDMI 2 is only outputting audio, but HDMI 1 is outputting both video and audio, so the Panasonic detects that the Sony is not compatible with DTS and then converts it to PCM on both HDMI outputs. Maybe that is the reason? Is there any way to force the player to output the DTS signal? Thanks in advance. |

(2) For 60i sourced video (like concerts and some shows), and any SD resolution video on Blu-Ray (such as featurettes, often presented in SD on Blu-ray discs) - is pretty bad. |

I just tried this and unfortunately I get no audio via HDMI 1 this way. I also do not see an "Auto" option under HDMI 2. This is driving me crazy. I can not for the life of me get this player to output 5.1 formats via HDMI. It is a modified, region-free player. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Even at the sale price I'm getting , I'll stick with my Sony for 4k & Oppo 103D for blu-rays & dvds . Heck the Sony X800m2 rocks on dvd .
No justification to spend $800 . I can buy a ton more movies for that kind of money . Was excited to see a scratch and dent but it better do everything I want it to and nah big pass , You guy's saved me a lot of money . Thanks . |

And I actually find the 820 does a pretty good job with DVDs, once you actually go in the settings and shift the artificial sharpening down to 0. DVD movies that were shot on film look actually really nice. I'm sure there are better players out there that can upconvert DVDs but come on, they are DVDs after all. |

I didn't like the Panny upscaling at all when I used it for awhile on 1080p discs, much worse than my LG, maybe it looked better in 2018. Not sure how either handles DVDs but I tend to just play those on my HD DVD player and forget about it. I switch it to the resolution I need at the time on the Panny, it's not annoying.

Also it's worth double-checking that HDMI 1is going to the SONY and HDMI 2 is going to the Denon (I connect mine to the Blu-ray input), and not the other way around. As the other poster mentioned try connecting the player directly to make sure the player's settings are in order, and also check you've enabled eARC with the SONY, although that shouldn't really matter if you're sending audio to the Denon directly (but you need it for the TV's Apps). If you just want audio from your TV make sure there's no power going to your AVR if you want to use your Panasonic. |

Changing this on the Sony A80J Oled: [Settings][Display & Sound][Audio output][Pass through mode][On] I will try this later tonight. However, this is what I did last night: What seems to have done the trick was to simply disconnect the HDMI cable from the HDMI 2 port on the Panasonic 9000. If I then use *only* HDMI 1 out in VIDEO + AUDIO mode, and if there is nothing else connected to HDMI 2, the Panasonic passes a full signal to the Sony A80J using the "Bitstream" setting, and the Sony detects it as Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD, Dolby Digital Plus, etc., etc. All formats are properly recognized by the Sony TV in this manner. But if I connect a cable to HDMI 2 on the back of the Panasonic, even if the other end of this cable goes to a receiver that is off (but still plugged into the wall), the Panasonic then converts everything to PCM. I will also try the following configuration next: HDMI 1: Video only HDMI 2: audio only ...and see if that works... but it's not really ideal for me, as I really prefer to have both Audio and Video on HDMI 1. |
