Maybe you can check if it says V2 or V1?

If they don't, your TV probably don't support Mode 1 or you have set VSVDB to V1. Need to be V2. Last edited by rickardl; 06-20-2024 at 12:15 PM. |

Sorry for the seemingly stupid questions that I ask, but after trying google to find out what VSVDB is I am not smarter than before.
If I change VSVDB what happens to the warranty? And where do I find the settings for VSVDB? Last edited by IlCorvo; 06-20-2024 at 02:01 PM. |

There's a bug in firmware 1.76 that causes the 820 to use player-led on the G3 and the Sony A95L. The simplest workaround is to use the HDMI Signaling Override menu (Settings -> Picture -> Highlight but don't click Picture Mode -> Press 1113111 -> Scroll to the bottom and switch Dolby VSVDB to V1. But if you don't know about this, you probably have not changed it to V1... |

Besides, it should be V2 so you should not set it to V1 now that the player bug is fixed! You can enter that menu just to see what it is set to and then exit, no harm done. Last edited by rickardl; 06-20-2024 at 01:42 PM. |

No Dobly mode options on mine since the update, but as my TV uses the low latency version of DV then I'm not shocked it's not coming up.
Really positive news tho that Panny are still looking to tweak these things, now if only someone could mention to them that the forced Dobly mode (when it detects a disc has DV, sometimes erroneously) is really annoying and that a Forced/Auto toggle would be great... |

Is this Dolby Vision V1 to V2 thing only for recent LG TVs or can it be accessed on older ones? I have a C9. I’m not sure if my Panny is doing the DV or my C9. I know with this latest update on my 820 that the DV options do not pop up for me.

No idea but the image above is from a post from Jan 9, 2021 so the 1113111 menu existed at that time.

True but that is when the CX was out and that menu could have first appeared on the CX. Nonetheless, I wonder if changing this would also change the calibration done to the DV options? Because if it does, I’d rather not adjust it (even though it’s been 4 years since my TV was calibrated).

Another thing to try... I had/have it disabled.

Still would like to install the regionfreedom update via avforums, though it may take some time for them to update it to the new release. |

Haha, that was me on reddit. A user posted about it in this thread a while back but didn't include the actual instructions, so I DMed them and they sent me that. I'm sorry to hear it's not working for others. I just tried it again with Disc 2 of the TCM set and it worked for me. I followed the steps exactly and didn't have to do anything beyond "then push top menu button once wait a second push it again" in Step 7.
Worked with the generic 9000-style remote I got off ebay too, so I don't think the remote should matter. I wonder if there's something in the player settings that I have turned off or on that could make a difference? Strange. |

Since I wanted to make my day difficult, I threw every Region B disc I had at my 820.
The Dawn of the Dead bonus disc and Martin are the only two I can’t crack. Second Sight’s Picnic at Hanging Rock (both Blu-ray Discs) and Arrow’s Tenebrae (included Blu-ray from the LE) went right through despite stating they’re Region B. Second Sight’s Drive, The Guest, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (both Blu-ray Discs) required just a single Top Menu button push. Same goes for Arrow’s Shock Treatment and Battle Royale II’s second disc. Everything else required the Stop > 1 > OK > Top Menu remote trick. However Dawn of the Dead and Martin? No way Jose. I really don’t give a shit about Martin since all the bonus material is on the UHD, but I’d like to watch the Dawn of the Dead bonus disc on my main set. |
