2023 build date on mine used everyday since buying no problems, maybe they did address some issues of older units with the trays :knock on wood: I think going through three bad units seems like awful luck maybe buy somewhere else and not worry about modding I dunno (mine isn't modded).

I've had mine outputting 4k only for awhile, there was a visible difference to me with Blu ray upscaling vs. my LG, the Panny looked better way up close for grain detail. I don't play DVDs on this unit for reasons that became obvious (they look like ****) so I use a good old Toshiba deck from 2007 outputting vanilla 480i and the picture sings for me letting the LG do everything. |

I seem to remember when I was using Auto that the player would send a 1080p signal to my TV while playing a bluray, there was a box that would pop up saying the resolution has changed and the TV info would say 1080p. Maybe they changed it on a firmware update this was nearly 3 years ago.

Auto just detects your display's resolution and will output at that. |

HDR10 is the base layer that your setup will fall back to if you have a component in the chain that cannot do DV. However, if you have DV turned on at the player and a display that can deal with it (i.e., not Samsung), DV will be the default. Next, DV does not have anything to do with motion interpolation. Many displays run different settings for each mode they enter, so even if you changed settings on standard mode, if you didn't adjust things when a DV title was playing, your display probably still has its out-of-the-box setup, which probably includes that motion smoothing. During DV playback, change your settings that you want, including motion interpolation, and the display should keep that every time DV is displayed. Hope that helps. |

The OP may be talking about if a 4k title has HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and whether it will default to HDR10+ if the display also accepts that format. |

Ahh, good catch. Yeah, if they did mean HDR10+, then I think that was covered a couple of months ago in this thread, and I think you either have to turn HDR10+ off, or let the player pick that over DV. I don't think there is another option. (Rottweiler30 should search the thread though, I think it's been covered thoroughly.)

Hi All - I have been scanning through the thread but can't seem to find what I am looking.
I got this player about a year ago (UB9000) great player but notice that the discs are quite hot after playback. The player itself seems fine it just the disc. Is this normal or a problem? |

Happened to me, every 20-30 min and only in DV. Tried a couple different cables with no luck, finally got a Monoprice 2.1 cable 3 ft. and it's 99% fixed it.

Curious to know if HDMI 2.1 cables help with some of these issues, even if the equipment at either end is not 2.1 compliant. The cable shouldn't make difference in those cases, but does it?

In theory it shouldn't, but I do have my player hooked in through a Vizio M soundbar since my LG TV won't pass through DTS signal. I decided to have everything in the chain hooked up to 2.1 for consistency, and for one reason or another, it's worked.
