3 FW's since July is not pretty timely???

Cource electronic traffic stop lights hiting Red are pretty timely.

My statement was

Nothing said about just the last firmware.

Think Panasonic is a pretty serious AV company.

Makes me comfortable they will likely add the VUDU App timely. My Favorite movie app. I given up waiting for VUDU App for my LG UP970. Waits been two years now____No VUDU App

Both LG and Pany Reps promised VUDU App. A song sung loud at CES's.

We just looked @ the date, that's all.
The Panasonic 820 is the King right now, in picture quality.

Do both these Pannys play well with Sony TVs (handle low latency DV)?

Hi, I received my new 9000 on Monday but I won’t have spare time during weekdays to unbox it. Please tell me if anybody had other issues in using two separate HDMI, one for the video and the other for the audio, with the audio delayed. Thank you.

Now that the UB9000 and the LX500 are out in the wild I've been scratching my head trying to figure out which one is the best fit for my Z9D.

Today, indeed.

* Panasonic's support is pretty good so far, ...à la Oppo, if not better and faster.
It's nice to see and eases the pain after Oppo's departure.

What are the chances of the Panasonic 820 dropping in price at Best Buy, perhaps on Black Friday? I've seen a fair bit of fluctuation in prices of some other, less-fancy 4K players, but I dunno if more prestige models like the 820 tend to stay put at MSRP.

Good question. List is $499 US. I don't see why not sometimes going on sale for say $399, and with time for $349-299

Everything outside Oppo Blu-ray players go on sale eventually.
The Panasonic 820 is not built like a $549 Oppo 203 player, it is more build like a $299 player, in my balanced and calculated financial and sense of well observed opinion.

We're well respected factory direct Panasonic dealers and I can tell you it's very very highly doubtful we'll see a price drop on the UB820 as demand is far outpacing production.

If production catches up with demand we may see a promotion, but at the current market demand and manufacturing capabilities the likelihood of that happening is less than zero.

Currently yes, the 820 and 9000 are the Tesla Model 3 and Model S respectively.
Next year who knows what Jaguar and McLaren might come up with for their new models.

In time everything's catching up; evolution in an economic world.
About right, Robert?

Yes, ^ I agree, with one caveat, Panasonic's new "HDR Optimizer" feature may be a patent protected or difficult to replicate by other manufacturers.

With that said, technology advancements keep rolling on.

Pioneer's new UDP-LX500 may have some circuit that does some of what Panasonic has mastered in the HDR Optimizer, but I have not done my a/b comparison and tested them to learn about the HDR tome mapping abilities.

Likely a good project for Kris Deering to partner with me.

Do you have the Pioneer in stock and are waiting on UB9000? That a/b comparison will help a lot to find out which one is best for our specific high end systems. Thanks for doing it!

Upcoming JVC 4K projectors are advertising this feature or similar one...we need to see how that fares.
Personally I prefer video processing features like upscaling, tone mapping done through players than displays.
