Those titles have been released but not at the bitrate & new compression of these discs. I don't knock a title until it has been seen. Ghostbusters was restored for the last Blu-ray release. It did have a high contrast problem but that was fixed since it was remastered for the new release. Supposedly the rest of the these titles were also & with a much higher bitrate. I'll wait to see the reviews & then pass judgment. |

Ghostbusters is consistently at 32-38 Mbps. You don't even have to look at that to know this is a drastic upgrade. I'm pretty shocked to be honest. I don't know if it is just a good match with the disc and my player but man the color palette is gorgeous.

IF there is a difference between the existing releases that had 4K scans and these new "Mastered in 4K" releases, it will likely be marginal at best, and they'll lack all of the extras included on those prior releases.
Marginally inferior PQ + Bonus Material >>>>>> Marginally better PQ + nada/zilch/nothing Not to mention the fact that you're paying a lot more for some of these releases compared to the existing ones |

Sorry, didn't see your '4k' caveat. Since you haven't seen the difference though firsthand it is weird you'd make a broad statement about all the releases though. Sort of a pointless use of keystrokes.

There's a lot of releases that are reviewed after the discs come out. It doesn't mean they are hiding them from the reviewers.
You have to remember these are catalog releases. Take for example "An Officer And A Gentleman" & "Runaway Bride" that was released recently. They were catalog releases & reviewed after they came out. Where's your logic? Again I'll wait until the reviews come out. It's senseless to make statements without viewing a title unless everyone here are compressionists for the studios & can logically say there will be no upgrade in PQ. Do you even look these things up before typing? Why don't you go thru the latest catalog reviews & see how many are reviewed after being released. Catalog titles are always a lower priority than new releases regardless of studio. |
