Using lightboost 120Hz monitors to reduce motion blur (by blinking backlight off during frame transitions) is one of the more popular fads in the last few years.
I then stand corrected. While I knew that it accepted a native 120fps input contrary to TVs, I seriously never thought so many actually had enough power to game at 120 fps considering so many games are so demanding.

In a nutshell, the look is possible due to the recorded image area on the larger 4K sensor later exhibited with the 4K display. The HD vs 4K images were taken from an old presentation (which I can’t readily find in any folder on this computer) by a SMPTE fellow and past SMPTE Journal Award recipient….

Not a bad escape by CP from Liverpool on Monday. Steed must have shared some spinach with your boys. Amazing last 10 min. or so.

Hmm, given our shared interest in islands and eras, I must make a remembrance post with a pic/video to explain the era and venue to you when I get more time, i.e. it was on Magic Island in Hawaii where I met the love of my life , who eventually became my wife .

Anyway, those guys from MIT are often at the cutting edge of things….building a camera that can image freakin photons moving thru space.

Hawaii is the only place I've traveled to (in the more expensive trips) that still rests in my Bucket list. 3 weeks was only enough to start catching their awesome groove, that "Je ne sais quoi" that you actually know so much about

Back to MIT, a buddy of mine did his Doc there and even in 1980s it blew his mind how advanced they were, and he did his Masters at Caltech

Those pics are just so unreal.

As a young whipper-snapper, I was one of the thousands on Magic Island, after the introductory spiel, you can scroll to about the 5’45” mark….

celebrating the return voyage of Hokule'a (the canoe sailed from Hawai'i to Tahiti and back, the navigator being able to navigate to Tahiti without instruments, i.e. using the stars, planets and swells - zee signficance - http://www.pbs.org/wayfinders/polynesian8.html )

Anyway, I met my wife-to-be that day in ‘76 (it was love at first sight …we married years later) that the crew sailed into Honolulu and I saved a T-shirt from the celebration as a memento….

No posting drunk.

And tell the people of the city of Sunderland I said they still have to come into work on Thursday.

Good job Steed, I’m happy for you . I doubt any of the TV or print prediction gurus forecasted that outcome to your season.

Yeah, Gus asked for a miracle and he got one! Now we can build and get rid of some of the deadwood. It also means we are guaranteed that Sky tv money and that will help. Most importantly, we will be playing in the best league in the world next year and just to type that feels incredible considering most fans had accepted our fate. What an incredible season with every emotion box ticked.

Thanks by the way, appreciate it.

Dem Spanish folks think their La Liga football is pretty hot, especially in 4K….
http://www.televisual.com/news-detai..._nid-4081.html

but, I too am more of an EPL man because I feel it has more parity providing greater suspense especially in determining the overall champion of the league than that which La Liga has offered….at least for the last 10 years or so (with, of course, the exception of this current season and Atletico’s presence).

Anyway your boys’ achievement has now been dubbed “The Great Escape” and deservedly so ....

It's technically good but it's the excitement of the Premier league that can't be matched Penton man.

Steed, don’t hold back, tell it like it is, i.e. you don’t like to see streaming talk anywhere on Blu-ray.com

Vashetti, keep in mind you’re dealing with two different codecs with different efficiencies, e.g….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=203684 so you have to factor that into your equation.

I think the same way.

Anyway, how would you rank them in terms of excitement? English Premier League…then the Spanish La Liga…then the German Bundesliga?, which b.t.w., Sky Deutschland is also upbeat on delivering football in 4K - http://advanced-television.com/2014/...at-on-results/
