Yes. However, I said top 10 on the adjusted list. That's the list we were talking and we were discussing the top 10. Endgame is 15, so it doesn't count. You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

Yep, half the threads I click on look like this now. I don’t know how some users have time to actually watch movies when they’re replying to every single post in every single thread all day and night.

Nope - same split as the first week. They no longer use the sliding scale for ticket splits

And, with the extra money, the theaters can take some of that windfall and invest in upkeeping, maintenance, and sometimes even upgrading their equipment - new screens, projectors, seating, etc.
Or . . . they can buy other cinemas and expand their empire. Did you know that the majority of Digital Cinemas are still using 2K projectors?

They can do either or both. They can perfectly well buy other cinemas and also give them some overdue maintenance, possibly even upgrades. AMC recently announced it was upgrading all its projectors to laser.

It’s funny to think how people thought Tom Cruise would actually show up for a minor role in Doctor Strange as a variant Tony Stark.

Dude is a bonafide movie star and just released a movie that decimated the MCU releases this year.

That's right, they hope to have completed the transition by 2026... in my area some theaters are already getting laser projectors installed.

Later this year, AMC and Cinionic will begin installing laser projectors in AMC auditoriums around the country on a market-by-market basis, with the full initiative expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

And what happens if the BO takes a down turn? Guess what will be the first item to be put on the back burner.

Let's try to be a little fair here. If you go back just 8 months to Spider-Man: No Way Home you will see that Top Gun is still about 600 million behind. I know you state this year but it sounds like you are only comparing it to Doctor Strange.

What does that tell you; Marvel flicks dont make the cut (Top 10).
And neither Maverick. It is what it is.

Just for perspective, all of the CBM's released since 2020 have made a grand total of about $6.4 billion, next to Top Gun's $1.3b... Nevertheless, it's absolutely fantastic that other folks in Hollywood have started doing their bit of the hard work that it takes to keep theaters from collapsing. Yes, it is hard work, and it shouldn't be up to CBMs to single-handedly save theaters from extinction. Everyone needs to do their part.

Just to be fair lets call a spade a spade here make movies people want to see and they will return to theaters. Has nothing to do with helping keep theaters from collapsing that's not JQ publics job.

Yes, you need to make more movies that are appealing to the general public to keep them coming to the theaters. We seem to agree on this.

Ok then, let's be really fair here. Top Gun Maverick has been having the best holdovers weekend to weekend over No Way Home. In fact, Tom Gun Maverick has the best holdovers in the last 20-25 years. Sure, No way Home made more money. But a lot of that money was made on opening weekend. Take a chunk of the opening weekend grosses and you start to see things differently. And No Way Home had zero competition. Top Gun Maverick is doing all it's doing during the summer season. Which puts Top Gun Maverick ahead.

And I suppose 2 + 2 = 5. If Maverick goes over 1.9 billion then you can say it's ahead. Anything else is utter nonsense. The worst thing is I enjoyed the movie but saw such ridiculous comments that I felt I needed to respond. This is kind of like politics. Half the country lives in the real world and the other half live in lalaland.

Japanese theaters get all the best swag. Apparently everyone who watches the movie there gets these:

Top Gun Maverick doesn't have to make 1.9 billion to be ahead of No Way Home. Or even outperform it. It's clearly doing that weekend to weekend. And it is doing so with tons of competition. No Way Home had no competition. Almost two months from the initial release and Top Gun Maverick's weekend box office outperformed No Way Home's box office at the same time frame. No Way Home also made a substantial amount of Its money in its first two weekends. Top Gun Maverick has made its money every weekend by continuing to be a proven success every weekend. This movie has a good chance to be in theaters longer than No Way Home too. On top of that Top Gun Maverick hasn't lost much of its theater counts two months out during the packed summer movie season. No Way Home was a huge success, but it's not on the same level as Top Gun Maverick in terms of performance.
