Hi.
There have been a recent release of Marvel Blu Ray and DVD re-release showing new 10th anniversary sleeves. I'm looking for a match for Spider-man Homecoming and The Incredible Hulk for Blu ray. Can anyone help? |

So a few things sort of "coming to a head" if you will has prompted me to take the beginning steps of what will likely be me making custom slips on a fairly regular basis. In the past I've only made a couple of one-offs.
What I've done so far are just the fronts, and they are still WIP, so further tweaks will occur for at least most of them. I'm open to constructive criticism. Last year I finally joined the Dinsey Movie Club, and have gotten a few of their exclusives. The exclusives generally tend to come without slips (at least these days... apparently some did at some point in the past before I signed up) and have a somewhat different style than the typical Disney release to date. For example, the Saludos Amigos / Three Caballeros Blu-Ray that was released earlier this week: ![]() The general layout with the yellow border, etc. is the typical look of the DMC exclusives. In fact, some images posted in the thread for this release were part of my inspiration for doing this. One was just straight artwork similar to that used on the actual DMC cover, but with the titles in the middle. The other was a mock-up someone did at some point in the past of a theoretical wide release in the typical Disney cover/slip style. The images are in the spoiler tags: [Show spoiler] I particularly liked that cover/slip mock up, and took that as inspiration to make my own version. On the version that I am making, I put "75th Anniversary Edition" across the top, to reflect that notation on the official DMC release. And since it's just a Blu-Ray disc and not a combo pack (no DVD or Digital copy), I replaced the text in the "Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital" area with "Disney Movie Club Blu-Ray Exclusive". As part of the resources for making this, I used a hi-res image of the slip from Hercules. Currently the designs going around the border are the ones from that release. I'm debating on removing them or keeping them. They somewhat seem to go well with it, but I haven't decided entirely: Using some of the work that I did on this release, I made further modifications to the blue border (removing the designs and putting "Special Edition" across the top as seen on some other releases), and started working on slips for some other DMC exclusives that I have: Beyond just making slips for the DMC exclusives, another inspiration/catalyst for me wanting to do this is the changes that are coming to the style of Disney Blu-Ray releases, as seen in the images in these spoiler tags: [Show spoiler] The biggest change is to the standard combo pack (BD+DVD+Digital) packs. Gone is the oval with the Blu-Ray logo and the nice border that has been pretty standard over the years (there have been variations, but for the most part they've all had some good similarities). It's replaced with this ugly (IMO) uneven "swoosh" at the top where the included formats are listed, with a red box sayings "multi screen edition" roughly in the place where the Blu-Ray logo would be in the past. On the bottom right corner inside of the border (and not part of it, so it's covering some of the artwork) is an arch shape with info about the movies anywhere digital copy and the devices that it can be played on. I REALLY don't care for this change. The design of the 4K packs aren't as drastically different from the small handful that have come out so far (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Cars 3, Pirates 5), but do include that arch in the lower right corner with the movies anywhere info. Plus, so far Disney has opted for their 4K releases to use those slip covers with the rounded edges at the top and bottom of the front and back, making the sides of the slipcovers slightly smaller (with a bit less at the top and bottom) than most other standard slips, like those used with all other non-4K Disney/Marvel releases to date. IMO it just looks weird putting one type of slip next to the other. In all fairness, the image for Thor Ragnarok in 4K in the above spoiler tags makes it look like it doesn't have the rounded edges, but that could just be the promotional mock up. Coco 4K seems to have the rounded edges, so we'll see on that. Either way it still has the ugly movies anywhere thing in the corner, and I'm just not generally thrilled with the way they designed the borders on these releases (with the way the top and bottom portions "arch" into the sides of the border). So with all of that in mind, I started work on the Thor Ragnaork slip below. In addition to everything stated above, I also wanted a cover with this particular poster art on it. Like the others, this is still WIP. I haven't decided if I want to keep the oval with the Blu-Ray logo or not. I was trying to put it there for overall consistency with that style, with my thought process being that the 4K Ultra HD logo would be in the place where something like "Special Edition" or "75th Anniversary Edition" on my slips above are. I kind of like it, but it does look a bit weird. I'm kicking around removing the oval. If I do, the rest of the design won't be substantially different. I would just take the areas where the format info is on either side of the logo and just make that one long 'bar,' adjust the text within it, and adjust the positioning of the 4K logo on top. I don't intend to make the area where the 4K Ultra HD logo is any bigger, as is the case with most 4K releases. IMO in most instances, it takes up too much space. While I don't intend to replace the slipcover of any and all 4K movie releases over that, for ones like this that I am replacing, I will likely have that area take up less space than is often the case. There will be more coming. I plan to do one for Coco, and will probably go back to do some for the 4K releases of Guardians 2, Cars 3, and Pirates 5. This is just what I've started so far... EDIT: A couple more that I started on: Last edited by Dynamo of Eternia; 02-02-2018 at 04:30 AM. |

Work in Progress... The cover will be finalized when "The Disaster Artist" will be released on Blu-ray! I just watched The Room yesterday and jumped on the idea of making a Space Saver cover for these two movies!

![]() I'd love a retro cover for the UHD release for The Bridge on the River Kwai. I hate the Mondo or whoever shite art on it. Would rather have had the original poster. |
