Sukie, there is a free program called GIMP that will allow you to manipulate pictures almost like photoshop. here is the link to the site. http://www.gimp.org/ here is a quick tutorial on how to use it. this will work for you a lot better than paint will. ![]() ![]() |

It seems like you have a lot of great ideas that you are trying to make happen, but aren't quite getting there. I can tell you from experience that it's not always easy, sometimes you can spend weeks on a single cover and still not get the desired result. It just takes time and patience, you'll get there.
Some things I would work on: Try playing around with the images and layout a bit more. As of right now it sort of just looks like you quickly tossed a few photos and logos on a black background, typed 'cinematic universe' and called it a day. Onto the constructive criticism... everything in this post is merely opinion, so please take it for what it is and know that I am only trying to be helpful. The spine. - The giant WB and DC logos on the spine really jump out at me, when those print out they're going to be huge! Maybe try shrinking them down a bit? - It looks as if the title of this collection is 'Cinematic Universe', with the DC logo at the top going horizontal and 'cinematic universe' going vertical it doesn't really read as 'DC Cinematic Universe' The front. - I would try playing around with the photo a bit more, maybe cut out each individual character and arrange them so that they fill in more of the blank space? - 'Cinematic Universe' is left justified, maybe try centering it or using a full justify if you want the title to be in the center. If you want it to be left justified, maybe play around with it's positioning so that it looks like an artistic choice rather than a mistake. - Again it looks as though the title of the collection is 'Cinematic Universe', I would maybe work on getting the DC logo and 'Cinematic Universe' working together as one. Play around with fonts for 'cinematic universe', fonts can make or break a cover. You could take a professionally done cover and change the font into some generic fancy font (comic sans etc...) and suddenly it would look amateurish and mediocre. That said, the font you used for 'cinematic universe' isn't bad at all, it would probably work very nicely for many titles and especially for synopsis etc..., but I'm not sure that it goes well with the DC logo. The back. - If you want to go for a minimalist approach that is great, maybe make the logo a bit bigger on the back. - Maybe play around with dark greys and shades from the logo and grading to give the solid black a little more pop I'll leave it at that for now, I wish you the best of luck on your journey to the perfect cover for you. Keep practicing and you'll get there! |

Sorry if this has been asked before but this thread is gigantic and couldn't browse the whole thing without going insane.
Anyone know of seperate custom artwork for the Crocodile Dundee double feature? I have a hatred for double features that I can't explain and although they're not the greatest movies I'd love to have them on nostalgia alone. Thanks! |

I am not half as talented as most of you guys, but just my 2 cents here. I use this application called paint.net. You can download it from getpaint.net. It has a lot of features like Photoshop and you can also download plug-ins for specific needs. It's free and is a great tool if you want to mess with graphics and is a big step up from Paint - though what you do with Paint is amazing. ![]() |
