PLEASE do not pre-order Don't Look Now yet.

There is an issue with the ASINs for Don't Look Now and Every Man For Himself.

Notes have been sent so hopefully this issue will be resolved shortly.

I think the only February release I'll be getting is Every Man For Himself.

Out of curiosity, have you seen it yet?

If so, what'd you think of the film?

Oddly enough, I have never seen it. I'm not sure how that happened, really. It's one of those that I've meant to see for a long, long time but just never got around to it.

Wish I could help.

Roy Batty is reporting that Lola Montes and Repulsion are also rotting.

And it doesn't play beyond the 50-something min. mark or around.

Oh! And since we are at it, same goes for my copy of REPULSION, although "tanning" is more advanced here.

I didn't see it coming either I suppose.

But then again, my mind was blown after recently watching The Vanishing (1988) and how that movie ended, which was far more terrifying for me at least.

Donald Sutherland's hair in Don't Look Now kept reminding me of his character in Invasion of the Body Snatchers!

I watched Macbeth last night and man, what an amazing film.

I'm not big on Shakespeare but Roman Polanski's version is fantastic.

The best part about Polanski's adaptation is that the actors weren't staging the lines but really talking in their normal voices (in British accents, rather than Scottish), which helped make this a more natural form of acting overall.

There was nothing boring about Polanski's Macbeth. Nothing whatsoever.

I watched all 2 1/2 hours of supplements last night as well and thought the Aquarius debate between Polanski and theater director Peter Coe was fascinating. The new 1 hour documentary was also impressive. The 45 minutes of behind the scenes footage of Polanski directing was incredible too.

Last but not least, I finally discovered just how much of a jerk Macbeth was!

No need to help, I've already seen the film a few times years back... through less legal means. Either way, you're in for a treat. One of his best, especially from the 80's material, easily.

I really hope Criterion includes the Dick Cavett interview Godard did to promote the film. He talks quite a bit about Every Man For Himself/Slow Motion, and the juxtaposition of his personality and Cavett's is quite comical.

Here it is on Youtube, if anyone's interested:

They play a few selected clips from the film, accompanied by decidedly loose explanations by Godard. It's good stuff for any fan of his.

I was planning to grab The Leopard digipak in the B&N sale before it disappears for good, but bizarrely they have not reduced it (only the new release) - its $48.36

Yep, the Cavett interview is on the disc. Two of them apparently. It's an amazing interview, I often use it in class.

Of the February releases, I'll probably get Every Man for Himself and Don't Look Now upon release or shortly thereafter, and I'll wait for a B&N sale to get An Autumn Afternoon, although the last of the three is probably the one I feel most obligated to get. Don't get me wrong, I clearly think it's a flawless masterpiece, but I tend to prioritize my Criterion purchases based on the rewatchability factor, which is probably why I feel inclined to get the former two first. Rewatchability is also probably why I have yet to buy Tokyo Story.

Either way, not to be a prick, but I honestly hope you guys didn't have to wait for a Criterion release in order for many of these films to be on your radar? Surely you're enough of a film nerd to have sought out films like Don't Look Now and Partie a La Campagne on the basis of them appearing on lists like They Shoot Pictures, Don't They and the like, even before they were ever seemingly within Criterion's orbit.

In other words, I hope Don't Look Now didn't suddenly blossom into a curiosity exclusively on the basis of the Criterion announcement.

A 20% Off coupon showed up in my email from Barnes & Noble today.

If you were me, would you use this in conjunction with the current sale to buy the Tati box set this weekend, or would you wait another week for a Bigger Better Deal, since next weekend is Black Friday weekend, and there may be an even more impressive B&N coupon?

It'll probably only be a few dollars and not worth the hassle of going out in public on Black Friday weekend. I dunno.

Really? Because it's visible even in Youtube's 360p quality. MAJOR spoiler below, not for the faint of heart:

Print out the "$8 off any blu-ray priced $40.00 or more" coupon and use it in conjunction with the 20% off coupon. That should get it down to a really nice price!

Thanks. I'm pretty sure that I've already used that coupon with my membership number, but it's probably not a bad idea to make sure.
