So happy to upgrade the Morris box! Ride the Pink Horse is a noir I haven't seen, which is always nice to discover. I'll skip these particular Bergman and Truffaut films. Hoop Dreams, on BD?? I had always assumed that it would never receive a Blu-ray release, being shot in standard definition.

I'm all over Ride the Pink Horse, and I'll probably try out The Soft Skin and Cries and Whispers as well.

I'm glad that Criterion is releasing a classic-era film noir this month.

Not sure about these announcements. The Truffaut release is one I would be interested in more, but as it was the only one rumored to be getting a HD release (at least currently) and it's included (along with 5 other unreleased-in-the-US films) in the UK Truffaut Blu-ray collection I don't know what to think about it. I was kind of hoping Criterion would do a Truffaut set themselves. Now I am left wondering if they are just going to slowly put them out over time or if a possible Eclipse set is all I can expect. A lot of Artificial Eye and BFI Blu-ray releases have come out for films that Criterion only issued on DVD in the Eclipse line.

Definitely in for the Bergman film. Glad to see some love given to documentaries, if only because not a lot of documentary films come out on the format. I haven't seen any of them so I have no other opinion at the moment.

Awesome line-up. I am definitely in for the Bergman and Truffaut.

I'm going to try to track down the others, even though they all sound good, as I do admire documentaries and film-noirs, but do not find every one to be worth rewatching.

Definitely in for Hoop Dreams and the Morris titles. I'm curious about the others, particularly Cries and Whispers (though that cover is baaaad).

I don't think I've ever read so much negativity for a Criterion cover before. I wonder if they will change the cover art for Cries & Whispers due to the strong negative reaction to it.

I swear to god Criterion better not be budgeting the cover designs due to this dual format crap!

OR I WILL BE MAD!

It was hard to follow last months announcements and it nice when documentaries get BLU releases even if they aren't ones I've been dying for. I still want Antonio Gaudi badly but at least some of the other films got upgraded but I have to agree that cover for Cries and Whispers isn't exactly begging for me to want to see it.

Glad to see The Soft Skin announced but Honestly CC should have worked out a deal to release a FT box set or two with his films. milking title to title like that sends me ready to import the UK editions.

I'll probably get Cries and Whispers, considering after watching a good chunk of Bergman's filmography over the past few months it's safe to say I at least like every one of those films I've seen, but not before I get some of the other Bergman films out on Blu-ray first that I did enjoy.

I've been interested in seeing Hoop Dreams, don't know if it's worth a blind buy. I very much enjoyed Life Itself from the same director.

I've seen Thin Blue Line, and while it is a worthwhile documentary with some great style in the reenactments, I'm not sure I need to own it.

Hm - Werner Herzog eats his Shoe is on the extras for Gates of Heaven. So I guess that means there's no plans for a Burden of Dreams upgrade?

Pretty decent month, but nothing major. I've heard great things about Hoop Dreams, but I'll check it out through Hulu

Chasing Amy's theatrical poster is worse though. It makes it look like "Bridget Jones' Something A$$hole".

Also, by far my least favorite film Smith wrote and directed. Yes, the good parts are fantastic, but the annoying parts are awful.
