Just like how I read his review to be this way, you read it differently. We infer something completely differently, just like audiences will probably infer different things from an abstract film like this one. |

Criterion posted this image earlier today:
![]() The New Line Cinema Blu-ray is now currently OOP. Seeing how WB has a new licensing agreement with them I wonder if this film would be a candidate for an upgrade? |

I think it's wonderful that Criterion is offering The Divorce of Lady X, a British romantic comedy filmed in beautiful "candybox" Technicolor, through Hulu for Valentine's Day. Released in 1938, the film teams Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier, who would star together the following year in Samuel Goldwyn's classic, Wuthering Heights.
The Divorce of Lady X has a gorgeous opening credit sequence featuring hot neon-pink writing on a lustrous midnight blue background, and the rest of the film is also a treat for the eye. I'd love to see this one added to the Collection; I'm sure it would be a knock-out on blu-ray! |

This week I knocked out two Rumer Godden novels: The River and Black Narcissus. I'm anxious to revisit The River once the blu-ray is released.
I don't know what more I can say about Black Narcissus. The novel is just as great as the film. It was incredible reading the text with imagery already in my head. Powell and Pressburger changed a few things for the film but it's largely very faithful to the text. The one big thing P&P changed for the film was [Show spoiler]

So what do people think of the trailer for Crimson Peak - I've been waiting so long for him to go back to films like The Devils Backbone and Pans Labyrinth, I'm. It sure about the trailer :/

I checked out Polanski's 'Macbeth' from the library the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I ended up snagging it yesterday evening along with one of my favorite Hitchcock films, 'The Lady Vanishes'. I also found a used copy of Bergman's 'Summer Interlude' for $16, but know absolutely nothing about the film, so I had them place it on hold. I was curious if anyone on here had seen it before, and how/if it compares to 'Wild Strawberries' or 'The Seventh Seal', two of his films I've actually seen and liked?
