If not, I'll just buy off Amazon.
I'm certainly not getting my hopes up anymore.

But if they do they'll be taking a nice chunk of my money.

Looks like they don't want the sale to be too predictable, i guess if it is always at the same time, they start seeing a lot less sales near that date in anticipation of a sale.

In that case they'd be better off making it earlier, otherwise people are waiting for the sale. But since they've set a precident, people know it is right around now.

That makes sense, it occurs to me that if they decide not to do the sale at this time, then their sales might be so low that maybe they end up forced to do it anyway.

Not a great situation to be for a company, although i am not sure if selling their films directly from their website at $20 a piece is bad for them in terms of profits.

Considering there isn't a third party involved, just shipping costs i don't think it could be that bad for them.

I'm in love with Australian, New Zealand and South African accents. Someone teach me those accents! Especially if you're a beautiful, tall, brunette female (as I'm a tall, handsome, brunette male). ;-)

As a night owl, I've always disliked that the sale starts in the morning. By the time I wake up, all the newest titles are usually sold out. I wish they would start their sale at midnight, kind of like Amazon and Best Buy do for their "deal of the day".

The Chaplin Archive is due this year. I was under the impression that the Tati Taschen book (also due this year) was an Archive too, but someone mentioned that it transforms in to a board game so god knows that is!

It will be released when Criterion is done working on the fold-out leaflet.

Do you think Criterion should re-release the Beastie Boys Anthology on Blu Ray with some of their newer videos?
Also, if the sale IS tomorrow, does that mean that all of the titles will go on sale (including the BB anthology) or just a select few titles?

It's a weird release is the Beastie Boys Anthology, but there's some amazing talent involved there, not least Spike Jonze, whose presence can be felt across the whole thing. I watched the hell out of it when it first came out, and remember a lot of the features feeling pretty cutting edge at the time (it's got one of the few uses of multi-angle technology that has any value!). It being Spine #100 also felt like quite the achievement at the time!

That being said, I would have no interest in picking up an upgrade.
