No, my real question is directed at anyone who has the Criterion Designs book. I would like to know if there were any alternative cover art designs for the DVD release of Lubitsch's Heaven Can Wait featured in the book?

I sat on my hands during the day and evening, and Don't Look Now (which I'm sure will be around for the next sale) and In the Mood For Love (have wanted this for a while now) sold out from under me. Considered the David Lean directs Noel Coward set (primarily for the new BD of Brief Encounter), as well as the complete Zatoichi set (good price on that, even at 50% of SRP), Branded to Kill, even Tokyo Drifter. Why oh WHY isn't Youth of the Beast on BD?? :_(

Considered Seven Samurai, Yojimbo + Sanjuro (have those + The Hidden Fortress on a DVD set). The Innocents which I have on DVD. At that point I realized that I'm in no financial situation for upgrades, even on sale; I just spent $600 on a Hsu sub to update my aging speaker set.

Settled for one I just had to have, Complete Jacques Tati set. Hopefully Costco will continue getting some titles ... the Costco price is generally 50% of Criterion's SRP.

Thank you, Polaroid! I very much appreciate your kindness in posting the link.

But actually, visiting Ms. Kuhwald's website just muddied the waters further! For whatever reason, although she proudly exhibits her artwork for other Criterion titles she was involved with (To Be or Not to Be, The Organizer, Amarcord, and Zatoichi - The Blind Swordsman ... and talks about the Criterion Designs book in her blog, she avoids any mention of Heaven Can Wait.

I know the artwork for the latter has received a lot of negative comments from some quarters (including on the Criterion website itself), so I was just curious to know if there were other options that her design might have won out over.
