I personally feel plastic case won't do it justice and it will get lost among other Criterions - so much work has gone into this, it needs to stand out...

So yeah would you rather to be a plastic case or something bold and something you want to preserve?

Guess they could do both and offer replacement cases?
It'll be digipak, so there's no point arguing about it.

Not looking for argument :P just want to hear peoples opinions as I know its a touchy subject... just wondering where people stand, especially from people who hate digipak style cases :P

Plastic cases are great but as I said, I think this deserves to stand out

No, they still have the last round there (Autumn Afternoon, A Day In The Country, Don't Look Now & Every Man For Himself). Was there Tuesday. From what I've noticed they change them every 4-6 weeks but it could be sooner.

I think CC should start doing these like Eureka's Shoah set (very thick outer cardboard box with standard cases inside + booklets). It's about 100% more durable than any of their box sets and each film can have its own standard hard case within the box. Would work so well for the Apu trilogy.

Yeah I recently got their Mizoguchi set and its stunning and so rugged, similar to Artificial Eye's Tarkovsky set which is so solid .

I'd wager that The Apu Trilogy will be a Digipak in the same style as the Rosselini / Bergman Trilogy.

They could do something similar to Yojimbo & Sanjuro.

Fantastic. More Nic Cage in the Collection is always a good thing. I'd also be up for Rumble Fish and Bringing Out the Dead.

When I saw that Criterion newsletter yesterday and that blue key I immediately knew it was Mulholland Drive. I'm totally psyched for this one.

Why? He's a talented actor, but he's often overlooked for some of the projects he takes on.

He's fantastic in Adaptation., Joe, Leaving Las Vegas, Matchstick Men, Raising Arizona, and Wild at Heart.

I strongly disagree, sorry! (Adaptation is a superb film, would have been better without him, but they felt we needed two!!!!!!!!)

IMO, he is a fine, servicable actor... no better or worse than someone like Brad Pitt. it's just that it has become annoyingly fashionable to either despise or adore him. there's no middle ground for folks, it seems.

I've never liked him, and have struggled to appreciate his roles - I have tried and I tried putting my issues aside when watching say Adaptation or Wild at Heart... I just can't deal with him.

If he did a role I liked I'd admit it but I really struggle...

Just some actors for me, don't work :P sorry.

Only film I've not seen is Leaving Las Vegas, and I don't think I can deal with a mopey Nic Cage lol.

He's not even mopey. He's a man on a mission; he's past depression.

No love for HI McDonough? Also, too late to say no Nic Cage in the Collection. You forget The Rock.

I don't put him on a pedestal like many do, but I still think he has made some great contributions to several films. Nowadays, it seems that it's cool to hate him just because.

I liked but did not love Pather Panchali. I wasn't as moved as I thought I'd be, but it's still a very good film and an amazing achievement.

That's what it seems like. Could be because he's in a lot of awful movies these days just for the paycheck. It's a shane because I think he's actually a talented actor and used to be a pretty good movies.

I wonder if people would respect this portion of his filmography more if he didn't have to take any part thrown his way to avoid going broke. His body of work is peppered with some crap lol.
