Absolutely. One of the great lost-in-the-vault noirs that many had never seen until Criterion dusted it off to give us a stellar transfer. You can read people's thoughts and user reviews in the thread dedicated to it.

What are people's thoughts on "In the Mood for Love", and how do you rank it compared to "Chungking Express" and "Fallen Angels"?
Ended up blind buying "In the Mood" because I've loved the other two Kar-wai films I've seen and because I've recently visited Hong Kong. |

The cinematography is amazing -- not surprising, considering it ended up being a collaboration between Christopher Doyle and Mark Lee Ping Bin. The music is unrivaled. The romanticism is just so intense. And the ending is perfection. I would have to think very hard to make this claim, but there's definitely a good chance that this is my favorite ending to any film. Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung are, of course, as good as it gets. For me, it's without question an A+ film. |

Le Samourai is great. I found Le Cercle Rouge not to my taste though it's certainly well made. Army of Shadows is where it's at. Amazing film.

I'd rank it as Wong's number one, with Days of Being Wild close behind, then Fallen Angels and Happy Together behind. Then, I would place Chungking Express. |

I like the tense edginess in Melville, and there are buckets of it in Army of Shadows. Totally with you on that one. |
